For anyone who gets to 'You Tube' wanting a video to open, but because of adblockers all they see is an empty page. here is my latest workaround:-

    1) Block youtube.com in Javascript, or a Javascript editior

    2) Refresh (you'll still have an empty page at this point)

    3) Unblock Youtube.com again / refresh and voila' page opens perfectly.

repeat this every time you get an empty page.

I know 'Freetube is another option, but for those who wish to just use you tube, this will work.

Whenever this happens here I just refresh the page and it usually does the trick.

Try the chromium based Brave Browser which has it's own built-in adblocker and it doesn't have any of these issues,

I also use 'uBlock Origin' extension on both Edge and Brave and never ever see any ads and any audio or videos I want to save on my PC I just download using 4K Video Downloader+ (Which was pretty cheapish when bought)

If you have a vpn go to Iceland. You are allowed to block ads there.

I haven't had issues with ublock origin. But it's a fact Youtube is slowly and sneakily raising its anti-ad-blocker measures. This has been reported by trustworthy people, both consumers and creators in YT.

What I mean with "sneaky" is there doesn't seem to exist hard rules. Kinda like a complex timebomb if you will. Perhaps uBlock origin configuration also plays a role. But I think by default works fine with YT.

the downside though is I haven't found any plugin in brave that allows downloading video or audio. I have both Brave and Firefox on my computer, I use Firefox mostly, and just reload the page several times if needed to get a functioning video player. Sometimes its just faster to cut an paste the URL into a new tab, that works every time I use it.

Middle mouse button click on the reload arrow to load the current in a new tab.

no problem firefox works pretty great for capture and if I really want to go down the rabbit hole I'll just install a streaming capture for windows, I also have a couple HDMI capture devices I could use to capture streaming output to files..just takes more work...

Google owns Chrome since they wrote it so , they know how to disable things in Chrome very well, thats why its good to have an alternative to Chrome and chrome based browsers like Brave and Edge,, etc. I still have a copy of Opera around somewhere, I should give it a try on video capture someday...

the thing I like about pointing the VPN to a foreign land is all the ads that do come through are unintelligble and not so distracting, especially nice when browsing google news or yahoo news.

I thought I'd put this out there. I haven't tried it yet, but it should work.
its a reddit (god, I know) forum post regarding using an "agent spoofer" program to make youtube think you are on chrome, when you're not - the program is free, I dl it but haven't gotten around to figure which settings in firefox I need to tweak..

Another option is to close Youtube, TikTok or whatever, going out for a walk and look the sky, it's the latest viral trend.

Well yes, but I didn't think anyone would be that interested in a thread which read..

'Why not turn off your computer and go out for a walk to look at the sky?'
