Not super impressed, but I'm quite pleased at that fact.
Because I've been working on what I hope to be the successor of Kontakt for the last 4 years.
The effects and especially the new sequencer in Kontakt is laughable, I don't think they even meet the needs of music production from 10 years ago, let alone today.
The age of gigantic, burdensome libraries is over. From my experience, composers, especially for film and games, have been in need of new tools for years. I don't like the cinematic sample library ecosystem. It's time to create a system that will allow everyone to make their own sounds, rather than relying on massively expensive and bloated sample libraries.

I'm quite excited to share my software with you guys when it's ready for testing! It's been a real labour of love.

Interesting! If you ever need a UI designer, I could help with that :)

It is easy enough to quickly create your own A/B listening test. Don't you agree?

    lol
i know exactly when ni did begin to ending their true strongsides , around when supercharger came out...
they thought we gone to be that trendy lifestyle dj controller/controller and synth(....) company, like everyone want living the berlin or ny hippster life, while forgetting their true essence and loosing key employees ,while it was more important to show the pseudo wokeness....believe me to some degree my rand is factual and most of you know it ...they jumped on a hype bandwagon and now the only driving thing are the libs....i really dont think kompakt and controller will keep them
up like a kontakt.reaktor.massive,fm8,absynth once did
hell i bed in berlin you find more ppl usin full house denise audio than ni modulator pack

besides the cartellish kontakt lib thing going on ,whats driving there ? maschine ? eh eh
    traktor ?

no it isn't, as I'm not going anywhere near Kontakt 8 at this point in time, and since you have already done it with your own sessions/projects etc to test it, I wouldn't think it would be that hard to drop a few bars for the rest of us to hear what you are talking about for those of us on the edge of whether to bother or not right now...

It would take you less time to post your examples then it would be to type about it for the most part you know? And would be of service to the community.

I don't think you made it up, I'd just like to hear it for myself, as would many others.

To me, the true updates to Kontakt stopped at version 4, when their KSP language started to support custom images for interface components.

Since then, it has been nothing but a mix of quality-of-life improvements (the most substantial being Lua support in version 7.5), and small additions like FX types. Their last big attempt at modernizing the UI (NativeUI) has mostly appeared as a chimera in forum threads, with maybe a handful of their libraries showcasing it. Above all, it's been a constant stream of updates where 1 bug was fixed and 2 more world appear.

It's become an instrument that keeps trying to do it all rather than shine at the one thing it's truly expected to do - sampling. Maybe the boundaries of sampling can't be pushed further, but to me that's how it looks.

That would be super cool. I'm all in for the tool that would allow me to explore and create my own sounds in a meaningful, intuitive way. Kontakt became an overblowated preset player. And I'm absolutely convinced that there's huge unexplored territory for samplers. One thing that I crave is an ability to pitch and stretch differently segments of the same samples. The old UVI Workstation2 had this feature, (although not direct, it was more of a bi-feature) the new UVI 3 can't do that and I havn't seen any other product to be able to do that. This is the thing I don't understand, doesn't developers want their products to stand out? For some reason everyone goes for the same generic functionality and becomes copy of an copy. Sure, it's essential to get basics right but beyond that? That's what the old NI did, they were creative and innovative, not anymore thow.

I don't mind so much certain functionality and integrated elements brought from other products in their purview, but yeah, I absolutely agree that V5 was their high point in terms of combining (an albeit clunky interface for normal "sampling" functions like key mapping etc if one makes their own), with interesting cross pollination of different modules and where 3rd parties could make some truly innovative, or at least useful "instruments in their own right", kinda thing.

Since then, they have obfuscated, or done away with (imho), some essential workflow or management issues like addressing/focusing the database, ability to have "locations", the "favorites" or quickload has become a mess (afaik you are not putting a particular snapshot in there unless perhaps you just save it as it's own nki, which is stupid, forcing things like that to be more easily addressed on a daw level save, but that's not idea), and down the line. (again, unless I'm missing something, which I could be....and hope I am if anyone can set me straight on that, I'd appreciate it and acknowledge my failure to understand happily).

Toss in their 'marketing' nonsense and some real slip shod design decisions in terms of interface...

NI lost the thread on what was otherwise a pretty good thing with Kontakt on V5, although it wasn't perfect then, but that being said, it was certainly more maneuverable then what it is now.
