Kontakt 8 is out, time for the first impressions but also QUESTIONS lol

1 which version to use?

2 personally I use it pretty rarely, so I enjoyed the danilovk PORTABLE, noticed that there were no updates lately, will it be available for K8 the portable version?

3 if we uninstall KONTAKT 7 will KONTAKT 8 be opened for the old projects?

I would probably wait a week or two as NI will no doubt release patches to fix bugs on the .0 release.

 

I always go with the bobdule version. It's just so stable and the library importer he has is so easy to use also opening native access desktop app doesnt fck with the activation so I truly think it's the best version imo.

 

yeah that sounds wise, it appears to be an early 1.0 version

if I am not wrong the danilovk portable has 100% similar library importer as Bobdule. I confirm that Bobdule's is stable and light, but the portable is way more light also. Sometimes it crashes in Cubase (in a certain situation) so I wouldnt say it's stable like Bobdule's, but it happens very very rarely and only in certain conditions. But it loads in a quick and works flawlessly

 

Portable without a doubt. Zero problems, duplicate issue snpid does not exist, library manager, possibility to control all thumbnails in the new browser. Its only drawback is that it is not compatible with NKS, although I do not use it.

 

In my testing ( is for 7.10.x Version) , r2r version is faster than other releases, I used to Portable and bob before.
in the general ,R2R Version is like legit version
but the only drawback of r2r is that some libraries are not recognized

 

yeah R2R solutions are very often like being legit 100% and sometimes even faster lol

I never tried it for Kontakt because of the limitation for some libraries, I dont remember which one (probably old one) but thats why I discarded to try it

still hope to see a portable version, sounds anyway the best solution for my workflow

 

On main machine, I'm a legit (DAW)/Kontakt U CE user (for a number of reasons). And to test new libs, portable was the obvious choice since it didn't interfere with my setup. Sadly, the latest portable version(s) weren't released..

Just a big thanls to bob, vkDanilov and R2R ofc for all the options

 

portable works fine for me and no issues adding any library except libs for a newer kontakt versions (as it should be).
portable is very convinient.

 

never had any problem loading libraries in the danilov's portable, even the newer for K7 obv, maybe its just a matter of luck, I understand it could happen

I have been skeptical for ages about portable version, but once tried you cant leave it, danilov also released the updates as quick as Bobdule.

had a brief look at the Kontakt 8 thing (videos and articles) and I suspect that there are a bunch of features that will be interesting for new sound design/libraries possibilities, so I think that in a few time we will see many interesting things to try

already saw a bunch of NI libraries looking tasty

Every time there's a big Kontakt update I try to stick with the one I already have as long as I can, but at the end all the new features oblige you to go further on and update. And I suspect it will happen again now...

 

I think he means there is no portable above 7.10.1, so you can't load say Alicias Electric which needs 7.10.5+. I heard there were some problems in making updated portable so.. a bit worried ;)

lol this new update isnt even good. looks way darker and more difficult to utilize.. brrrr

 

yeah I saw the GUI has some kind of modern iZotope acid look lol

have to say that I never liked Kontakt's style since the first version, I remember those military colors like green, brown or something, so I am ready to struggle again

But in the meantime I know that if you work in modern music production you HAVE to know it because it sets a standard. No way.

 

I prefer portable, so hopefully there is a portable version.

Depending on your DAW, there may be some manual work involved (swapping out kontakt 7 for 8 in tracks, maybe configuring what library is loaded and parameters). But Kontakt is always backwards compatible.

 

I use the portable. easy peasy to install new versions. never had a problem.

 

Alicia's Electric works fine on my portable 7.10.1

 

I'm waiting for the Portable version because it worked on Windows 7
