Yes definitely, however the "UAD big deal" depends on protection. In my opinion it all depends on whether R2R wants to sink a blow into Pro Tools one day. If Pro Tools falls, we will probably see UAD, Liquidsonics, McDSP, CEDAR. However I have my serious doubts that this will happen in the near future, also because from what I understand Cryptlex does not seem to have much in common with iLOK, it seems more connected to Codemeter. So I think that the hard iLOK is still quite prohibitive for any Team at the moment. I will be very happy to be proven wrong in the next Gong, but this is my feeling.

i wouldnt waste any second on ProTools, Avid can suck a **** with they crap software.

im not talking about the recent releases. and Ilok seems to have its own way of doing things. (i discussed with someone a while ago, if there are other packers/protectors, which use ilok ideas, we did find something ... but most of the part of ilok seemed very special. But that was some time ago)

    McDSP stuff is Bedge.

    i mean other things ...

Our opinions on software do not matter much, because R2R does not think in terms of the quality of the software, but in the type of protection. When they announce big victories (or Gongs), they announce the defeat of a targeted protection. In the specific case of the Big Wave 2020-2021, R2R announced the fall of Metafortress, and since most of the most prestigious audio software used Metafortress in that time, we had an unprecedented quantity and quality of releases, memorable for their importance. Releasing Pro Tools would be the greatest victory for a Team, for the huge degree of difficulty of the undertaking. So if you ever see UAD and R2R in the same NFO, it means that R2R has defeated that particular iLOK protection. Not because they care about how Universal Audio plugins sound like, or whether Pro Tools is a good DAW or not. Just my opinion. R2R has been doing this for the past 8 years.

i still think that ProTool ilok and UAD ilok configs are different. so i wouldnt throw them in the same bowl.
its been a while i compared different ilok protected software which each other, but i doubt anything has changed since then.

I am not a hacker of course, but there's one thing I am sure of. Pro Tools and Universal Audio are the most powerful and richest players in the audio industry. So they may have different configurations, but surely iLOK will have inserted the most powerful layers and extra protections on its AAA clients. And surely there is a reason why R2R releases all Slate Digitals but no Metatune and new Virtual Mix Rack, all Sound Radix but no new Auto-Align Post 2, no more SSL, nor Relab. Something changed at the end of 2021. Then there's also the fact that Universal Audio's catalog is expanding. R2R will wait a little longer before launching an attack, they've always said so in the NFOs. However, IMO, I think we'll see a big iLOK fall by the end of the year. And also, we'll see what's in the Gong. It's always fun to talk about the next exploits of the greatest Team of all time. Thanks R2R, always.

Revoice Pro 5 crashes PT 12.5AU everytime i use to align a second audio clip (it captures the Reference and the Dub, once rendered i select the second audio to capture and then it crashes and PT colses up) had to revert back to v4 which is more stable, Vocalign will be nice since it has way simplier workflow

I have both, and while Vocalign 6 Pro workflow is faster/more intuitive, I still get slightly better results from their flagship Revoice Pro 5.
It's nice to have both, though.

It is of course a matter of taste , I bought quite some UADs because I thought "Damn , that sounds great " . In my case more instruments , with compressors ,EQ s and stuff I cannot really tell . But even in that case I got good results quickly . The copy protection (only dongle or online ) sucks for me , though . A great achievement of some of the new R2R releases in my opinion is the " freed from online check " requirement . Live that would be a dealbreaker and my "studio" simply does not have internet . And its PC would be offline even if it had . Thank you so much , witches

It is a can of worms - since several vendors have gone the subscription model, as far as protection goes, there is still conflict and which is better than which, a dongle, subscription or authorizing software or built-in ET call home... or worse for that matter... I think the jury is still out and that's probably because none of them are really that great and all have their own annoyances :)

Personally, I would love to have the latest software from Audio Ease (Altiverb 8, Speakerphone 3 and Indoor 2). These are the only programs I really, really want at the moment.
However, I do not assume that these programmes will be part of this year's Gong.

V7 has been good enough for about 10 years. What's the rush? Obviously, AudioEase were not in one. A new version of Snapper from them might be nice though. :)
