I am just in Ableton now and I have just switched ASIO drivers from FL Studio into ASIO4ALL v2.16. And the sound has got thinner and quieter. :woot: How come? And yeah, the sound in FL Studio ASIO is thicker, bassier, and louder.

depends how it could be routed, do you have the same problem with normal windows audio driver?

Some Asio & Audio drivers can fook ya sound up! but you need to play on other devices to what suits you. Analog all day long!

It's very highly unlikely that an otherwise working driver would cause "thinning" of sound. Drivers, ASIO especially, just need to shuffle bits to the sound device and back. They don't cause minor sound quality issues.

It's either distorted & clicky, or it works fine. Not counting latency here, that's another thing.

Are there alternatives to ASIO4ALL, that work on Win7 32/64?

I had the exact same problem on a MSI notebook using 2 different ASIO drivers.
I found that one of them was using audio preferences from the bios while the other one didnt.
In bios there was options for low frequencies cut and pseudo-stereo-enhancing (for gaming crap).
Disabling all bios audio options solved the problem and both Asio drivers were sounding identical.
If I'm not wrong, one was Asio4All 2.15 ans and the other was RealTek Asio (internal audio car manufacturer).

One or the other could be using a different driver regime and thus a different set of upper or lower filters that are affecting the sound, so it is possible, yes.

Edit: Pretty sure ASIO4All uses WASAPI and FL ASIO uses DirectSound, and WASAPI should ignore the DirectSound UpperFilters and LowerFilters settings.

You have to enter the bios at computer boot, most of the time you need to hold a key like ESC / DEL / F12 depending on the computer brand.

I bet because ASIO4ALL just fakery which bridges Windows audio engine anyway - which uses EQ and Dynamics adjustments by default,
make sure all "sound enhancements" are disabled in Windows sound settings, and also samplerate matches what you're playing

I have Lenovo laptop with Intel SST Audio. ASIO4ALL works awkward eg it doesn’t switch to headphones when I plug them. The best working was v2.13. FL Studio ASIO works best for me.
Anyway, I was in the studio and there was Arturia Minifuse audio interface there. When I tried to switch to Arturia’d ASIO driver my Ableton started freezing. The only workaround was using ASIO4ALL with all audio switched off but Arturia Minifuse. The session went well with good recording and sounding. Then I changed the drivers In Ableton and it hit me this difference of sound. When I listen to music in Windows everything is all right.
I don’t know if ASIO4ALL and FL Studio ASIO can work for system sounds and only for DAW when it is needed.

    ??? https://github.com/emaballarin/FLASIO/?tab=readme-ov-file
    ----
    Steinberg - ASIO FullDuplex + Generic Low Latency 1.0.1.14 + 1.0.0.1 x86 [2001/2008, MULTILANG]
    this or win dx

    fck all that other asio

you can try install soundforge or fl studio and use their asio in your DAW

if i do not use a interface i go for win dx (maybe less tracks but asio4all is the most cheap of all asio ---man mac guys can only laugh bout this thread---,no recording ,heaphones only)
if i do ,i use steinberg ur driver

Any project in Ableton sounds worse with ASIO4ALL 2.16. FL Studio ASIO sounds good. I have been using this driver for 2-3 years.
    All system enhancements are off.
I can't choose ASIO for the system but only in a DAW. So what routing do you mean?
    I will downgrade ASIO4ALL to v2.13.

just meant internal OS routing or whatever its called ...asio4all goes for only DAW audio and turn off systemsounds as you know...
i think flex asio, magix and fl asio play in same ballpark , i remember fl from the past when i had fl installed.

i will install flex and steinberg asio in future and thats it but as i wrote when not using a interface i go for the win driver ...on 32bit fo sho the old full duplex and low latency

win dx seem bit more snappier in ableton but whats sure as you kno asio4all is catasthrophic

there are other asio but they are for advanced multible virtuel cable like routings and not bringing an advance for normal use imho

good thing bout flex is easy install and no need to install whole programs to get their asio...
only if on 32bit i would install cubase 5 to get orginal asio when this Steinberg - ASIO FullDuplex + Generic Low Latency 1.0.1.14 + 1.0.0.1 x86 [2001/2008, MULTILANG] not working to install (can happen)
