    ImageLine - SliceX
    Initial Audio - Slice
    HY-Plugin - Slicer 2
    New Sonic Arts Vice

Again, as with DrmMchns every plugin has its own strengths and weakness, you have to try for yourself what suits you best. As for me Ableton's Simpler/Sampler works like 99.99% of the time. Or go for NI Kontakt there are bunch of stuff you can do there with a drum loop.

Yeah, you are right, I've let my own preferences out)) Atlas has more features to shape a sound but I go for quick and easy fix and once you have drum sounds you like XO's groove feature is unmatched and its worth all the missing functionality))

It's heavy on CPU resources when compared with something like TAL-Drum. The sample comparison "cloud" seems like a great addition to a drum machine, but it's actually the biggest drawback to many people. If you really need those functions, something like Sononym, Atlas, etc are still what many people prefer; because they are CPU lighter not "better". All personal preferences.

So many other obsolete options mentioned already.

I think I tried there MLooper once, sheesh that thing seemed so unintuitive to me..... The GUI was aweful too.

But thank you so much for the suggestion.

Downloaded the demo of Triaz loved everything apart from one thing, which is the most important for me. Creating your own kits and saving them, only saves a link to the samples used from there original directories and doesnt save the samples along with the kit as a standalone kit.

What a shame this would have been ideal had it have been for that.

Geist2 2 isnt available anymore according to the website.

I'll try a few of the other mentions.

I find it hard to believe it doesn't have that option, it's a pretty standard one. Maybe it's a demo limitation or you've missed it somehow. y the way they have Triaz version for Kontakt, you definitely can save your own kits there.

I will double check or see if there is a PDF, its so close to having everything and more.

The reason this is so important is I am always upgrading hardware and dont always copy everything to new machines or new SSDs, or NAS devices and I am forever loading old projects for it to say "cannot find samples" so this is why I wanted something that would save the samples used to make the kit within the saved kit.

To me, GUI/workflow is the most important thing BEFORE features.

When i look at Nerve GUI, i feel in the 80's
Triaz : too flat and not "segmented" right
    ...
And i can't stand Melda GUI too

Geist 2 is almost perfect on this side (it is on sister site ...).

Saving samples "all in one" is one of the reason i use DAW directly ... and save "all in one" projects :winker:

PS : MPC seems to do it easily ...

Yep, I agree with you on the workflow, that's why I go for XO for the groovebox, it's easy, straightforward yet powerful. Melda is powerful as well but it's just overwhelming, all the functionality and details but it's all connected in a weird and unintuitive way.
Geist 2 has the perfect balance, too bad FXpansion been laying low for many years now. However they've revived BFD under different brands name maybe one day they'll do the same with Geist 2. 10 years after and it's still above the competition.

Dont laugh now but I do have an MPC X SE and an MPC Live II and sure I could use this and probably should as they both have a 4TB SSD HD in them with all the samples I could ever need BUT I dont always want to turn them on :no::no:.

So there is a way with Triaz of copying samples in to a triaz user directory but thats no different than just linking to the samples from the various samples folders and sample HDs they are already stored in and its just a duplication of SSD space.

I use Bitwig as my main DAW currently and the Drum Machine it comes with allows me to collect any used samples and save them within the project folder, but it just looks so damn ugly and bland.

How else did you expect it to work? :woot: Either it links a direction to samples or duplicates it to a kit, there is no third option  well, you can always delete samples from the original location and keep them in your kits:guru:

@StormChaser i was speaking about MPC software
May be your best option, as you already use hardware MPC.

    https://www.akaipro.com/mpc-software-2.html

There is even free MPC Beats :
    https://www.akaipro.com/mpc-beats

And YES, drum machines integrated in DAWs can save samples with the project.
Because it is NOT saved as "plugin state".
But as far as i know, no third party plugin can do it.

Because "plugin state" saved with project can't handle megabytes of data.

That's why i prefer NOW to use DAWs integrated drum machine or sample player.
And save project "all in one" with samples.

Sorry I'm late to the party.

16 pads, Import your own samples then save them as a preset or a bank to be used as is or mix and match. One of the very best sequencers out there.

You're describing Xfer Nerve. The ability to manipulate those samples by adding FX is the very least of what this thing can do. It can break apart loops to rebuild them, and as for a sample, it can reverse it, offset it in the mix forwards or backwards. and there is so much more.

I have every drum vst on this machine in the top 20, and apart from BFD3 and AD2 (oh and Atlas as well) I use that the most!

This will give you a good idea as to whether or not it will be right for you:-

Save your kits as templates. Done!
That's what I do in Reaper.

Another shout for Algonaut Atlas! You can always route the pads to their own output channels for further manipulation in your DAW, I know FX etc per channel/pad are coming but for now, route and apply FX via the DAW. You can save the kit as a file, which will contain all the individual samples (instead of references/links to the samples), which you can share or move to the project folder.

Nerve is quite good. I did this whole checking out every drum solution on Windows from trackers to Geist, Regroover, Recycle, Battery, Kontakt, Impakt, whatever. Tried them all. When I see an interesting one, I still check them out. But when Logic 10.5 update was released, they dropped Ultrabeat and EXS24 at some similar time. They replaced Drum Machine Designer with a total rebuild of it and changed the Q(uick) Sampler; it ended my hunt for the "perfect" user sample-based drum machine. Between it and Falcon Drum Designer, the only other sampler I use for drums is my e6400 ultra. Now all my drum machine plugins are simple drum machines like Roland Cloud, or drum synths like Microtonic and the D16 machines. I like every drum on it's own audio track for processing separately anyway. Audio converted back to Midi and a new sampler assigned is a piece of cake.
