Internet download manager doesn't seem to work on Soundcloud. Are there any alternative solutions out there?

yt-dlp handles SC just fine, does batches and whatever you'd need in a media downloader.

Generally I do something like this, separate the video (if any) and audio streams, save the highest quality originals (as per default), but also save the audio as WAV:

*edit:* Oh, there's a GUI tool for yt-dlp (actually loads), for instance: https://github.com/dsymbol/yt-dlp-gui but they're not as configurable (or can't batch run), but easier to get off ground.

My current favourite trick is to use sponsorblock with yt-dlp to archive videos off Youtube without ads.

What do you mean by this? On Soundcloud, the artist allows downloads of the track or they do not. Is there some new way to buy the track, if they only have it posted on their Soundcloud?

Yeah, yt-dlp is a beast. Complex to use but unrivaled for batch downloads. My yt-dlp.conf file is like, big as fuck

The next best thing, and with GUI, is JDownloader2 (haven't tried yt-dlp GUIs)

(3 googling min later) Wow, that's freakin' impressive. But how Sponsorblock manages to have the timestamps of zillions of videos ads? Because we're talking ads inside the real video right? Like promotions made by the YTubers and so...

They crowdsource those 'stamps, per their blurb: "Skip sponsorships, subscription begging and more on YouTube videos. Report sponsors on videos you watch to save others' time."

 

That's so neat. Like an ad-blocker list but for videos segments. Impressive effort. YT-DLP config file, here I gooo again!!

PS. BTW, slight OT but the last yt-dlp trick I'm using is making it "stream to my Media Player Classic HD". It's wild, and I actually download now half of the YT/dailymotion videos because I can see them directly without the browser or app.
I mean, you can choose resolution, codec,.... Nuts. But still with a bit of lag beyond 720p, compared to browser version.
