So yeah first delay. Pretty reasonnable price (129$ regular, 109 on presale), considering it's not just one delay, and the delay itself should be awesome (and I should say delayS, as there are many delay boxes recreated here). Here are the details.

Acustica is pleased to release LEMON, a Dreamware Multi Tap Delay.
LEMON is the first Acqua Plugin based on our brand new Core11 technology.
It’s an ambitious project that has cost us a lot of time for its development; the result of these efforts is the most feature-laden plugin that Acustica has released to this day.
LEMON includes 40 different delay and/or tape emulations, each one with a great sonic character and excellent performance; its 40 programs are able to faithufully reproduce the behaviour and sound of many different hardware delay machines, both vintage and modern.

What's wrong with the average delay plugins?
We found that they do not repeat well. Many of them are grainy and cut incoming audio sources to pieces. Ultimately they're good only for a kind of over the top 'special effect' that, however, makes it impossible to use them in normal contexts, where a high quality old school hardware delay would effortlessly do the trick.
As soon as we realized that such a processor was missing in the software world, we felt the urgent need to find a solution. We are going to release a plug in that not only includes the sonic nuances of 40 dream hardware delay units, but that is also capable of preserving the integrity of the source in such an organic way that was unheard of in the box until now.
If you are looking for a flashy delay effect with strong modulation, extreme pitch shifting and heavy feedback, then Lemon is not for you; but for all the other vast majority of cases, when the music calls for a delay texture that blends seamlessly with the source, then Lemon might become your first and last choice.

They also released Ebony (first reverb, and then some there are also eqs and comps, very nice), and version 3 of Ivory (which adds so many features, new dynEQ, etc, really nice too) during the summer, but I didn't really have time to make a post about those.

After 7 years of no Lemon updates to fix long standing issues, AA releases Fire The Delay, lol.

 

What long standing issues?

 

Lemon has to be the most alienating delay out there outside of hardware. The fact that it will cripple a decent PC in 2024 yet came out 7 years ago is funny. Who could even use it back then?

Sound wise to me, it's leaps ahead of all the other delays out there, sits effortlessly and never "stands out" like most other delays. Sounds amazing. But IMO the usability and fragility of lemon ranks it amongst the worst.

 

Lemon sounds AMAZING if you take the time to twiddle with the settings, there are many posibilities and it sounds thick and analog, IMO.
Not many delays that have that analog sound.

 

I never got it to work. If I need an "analog vibey" delay sound that Sound Toys can't do I just go straight to Echorec. And my cpu thanks me.

the new fire the delay is crazy good. if you hate acustica, or think echoboy is the best delay on the planet, at least try it before you pass judgement.

 

I tried to try it and the trying it didn't work. It's ok, I'm good. I'm not an Acustica hater but my life is better without it.
