I can't figure out how to do this in Fl Studio. If anyone can help me figure it out that would be great! I can't seem to use the plugin as an effect in Fl Studio because it doesn't recognize it as an effect only a synth.

I know about the manual. I'm trying to get it to work in Fl Studio.

what happens when you do as suggested on pg 18:

    Using the vocoder
    1. With the SYNTH/VOCODER buttons, select VOCODER.
    2. Adjust the “Audio In Level” in AUDIO IN.
    3. Input an audio signal to the input selected in the Audio In settings.
    4. Try playing the sounds using the software keyboard or an external MIDI keyboard
    while inputting audio

its an instrument, not an fx,
load the microkorg as an instrument, and either press the vocoder button, or turn the program select knob to vocoder, they both put the instrument into vocoder mode.

route your vocal track into the Microkorg track to have the vocoder modulate them.

With many vocoders I tried I put them in a vocal track and routed in another MIDI track, but others worked the other way round, and again some in either ways.

Little more complicated (but not too much) if they allow carrier sidechain, in that case usually they get vocal on a the same track and get carrier (synth) from another audio track but from another input pair (like mic 3/4 instead of 1/2).

I didn't try this one but I think it doesn't fall much farther then all the others. See manual.

I've been trying to to route my vocal track into the Microkorg track but I don't know how to do that. Could someone make me a video or something like a step by step tutorial to prove it can work? Even screen caps would help. I can' t figure it out.

Use Patcher on your mixer channel (native FL Studio VST, that allows you to create complex chains of effects and synths), add Microkorg inside it and route incoming audio into Microkorg.
Use MIDI Out plugin to generate MIDI for you Microkorg.

You can google "How to route audio inside Patcher" and "How to use MIDI Out" for specific steps.
    Hope it helps!

I think he wants to route vocals (audio) thru the vsti MicroKorg Vocoder, producer modulated audio, no midi involved. I think it would only confuse him and he doesnt need midi to process audio through a vsti. If he wants to use his midi keyboard to control the modulation from the VSTI, he will need to have midi routing configured or setup for his keyboard to FL studio.

Can someone explain to me how to route audio in into MicroKORG in patcher? I still don't get it after many trys. Obviously I have no idea what I'm doing but a few screencaps wouldn't hurt.

doing a little googling on youtube wouldn't hurt either.

here's the basic principle on how to route

at 45 seconds he shows which buttton to clik to route a track.
watch this a few times until you understand what he is doing. he's routing to a reverb, the principle is the same, just don't use a reverb, use the microkorg VSTI

    open a project
    put vocals on track 1
on track2 create an instrument track using Microkorg VSTI

route track 1 to track 2. switch the microkorg VSTI to vocoder, select a vocoder preset and press play on the master buss you should hear unprocessed and processed vocals, mute track1 and you should still hear processed vocals on track1 thru the vocoder on track2. at least thats how it works on reaper. I'm not installing FL studio on my computer just to teach you how to route in your own DAW. sorry man...

good luck, a million people have done it before you, just stick to it, slow the videos down if you don't understand, download the video and you play it over and over while you have FL studio open and you can follow along. Do it in a new project with just 2 tracks, the vocal and the microkorg, until you understand what you are doing and why you are doing it.

You don't even have it installed? Until you actually try Fl Studio you have no idea if it works or not. I've tried and couldn't get it to work.

So now I'm pretty sure you don't have the basics in FL (maybe in daws in general).
I'm not using it, so I can't help, but usually you follow tutorials or study the manual before making little more difficult routings as required by vocoders.

    Dig in.

In that case it's even easier, no strange routing required.

Now I got it working in Reaper but the problem is if I mute the dry audio track after routing the track to track 2 (microKorg) the audio stops, so I have no idea why I can't mute the dry audio in Reaper after being routed properly, I can only turn down the vocal track to like -44db or something. Disappointing. That being said I'm no Reaper wiz that's for sure. Maybe there's a simple fix I'm not aware of.

Let's say you did track 1 (dry) routed to track 2 (vocoder).
Did you UNCHECK the Master send option in track 1?

If you didn't, you would hear BOTH dry and processed.

Others have reported the exact same issue in Reaper. So obviously its not just me. I did install Ableton Live 12 though and it works flawlessly. So far its the only Daw that can run the plugin properly.

Ok, so I took my time to test it, and you were right about Reaper , and you were right too about Ableton, here it works fine.
While I can easily use it with MIDI keyboard I hear the mix of dry input and processed audio, threshold pot just lowers processed one.
I tried to mess with the input monitor but whatever I do doesn't work as it should.

The strange thing is that all the other vocoders I tried (Xils 5000, Melda, Vocodex, Orange, Lector, Tal, plus I don't remember) they all work as expected in both daws.

Off topic: IMO mk vocoder (compared to the mentioned above) is really poor, but maybe I should (I won't) study it more.
    Mk uninstalled.

    Peace. :winker:
