yeah Intel could go bankrupt or be bought out by microsoft or elon musk or even Amazon.

Intel lost its way around the Pentium 4, everthing is a reiteation of the pentium 4 on a smaller die size with a gpu and cache.
they lost their SSD business which was a great product because of bad management.

Apple's Steve Jobs giving the middle finger to an IBM sign (1983). Today, Apple could buy itself 19 IBMs.

IBM went from infallibly dominant technology leader to dust bin of tech-history in little more than 10 years. Maybe Intel's destiny is to become the next IBM - who knows. Intel's survival (as a tech leader) is not guaranteed at all.

I'm pretty sure no one on this forum is using a PowerPC running OS/2 while looking at an IBM monitor powered by an IBM Ultra-VGA chip. IBM used to be Intel, Microsoft and Nvidia combined - until they had to eat a bit of humble pie.

Lenovo is a Chinese company that bought IBM's computer business 20 years ago. The money from the sale ($2 billion) was used towards IBM's $35 billion in debt at the time.

if you wanna (kinda) avoid this, i guess, buy on aliexpress the latest laptop chips that were adapted to desktop.... from what i have seen, they do not require modified bios anymore... this is a reference and this is a video of it (which although is in spanish, it is pretty self explanatory)

It's a good practice to undervolt CPUs in your computers for longevity anyway. I always do it, Intel or AMD. And test the CPU performance to see how stable it is at different frequencies. Same with memory. Not many people have patience for doing this these days.

So the microcode bios update is out, at least for some boards. Performance drop is very small for games from what I'm hearing. Don't know how that translates to DAW work.
