Hello, I cannot find a solution anywhere, now here is the situation my father (70 years old) is doing music for small local movies and straight up refuses to upgrade to a newer version of Cubase. He wants Omnisphere so I tried everything for two days now, firstly I tried installing Omnisphere 2 into Cubase 5.1R1 but no sound, then I tried to find Omnisphere 1 and oh boy was that a problem couldn't find a torrent with seeders and I managed to finally find one that had seeders.

I installed Omnisphere v1.5.6d from a TeamAiR realease and the Omnisphere works same as Omnisphere 2 but no sound coming from it. My father claims that is because on the left side in the outputs section he cannot select Omnisphere while everyother plugin is there and I checked it myself yes every single plugin is there except Omnisphere. Now I made a virtual machine of his Windows 7 x32 bit with 4GB of RAM and installed the same Cubase to try to find a solution. No one knows, I even reached out to Spectrasonics and they replied with oh just upgrade, but I can't upgrade since the old man can't work in newer Cubases. Now I'm stuck here, and I need someone who knows Cubase and Omnisphere since I personally never even heard about those two softwares before this situation where he wanted me to fix his PC after his HDD died which meant reinstalling Windows.

Here are the images as u can see Omnisphere runs perfectly fine even is updated with some VIP and Moog library's but on the other picture you can see in the Output section only Microsoft GS Wavetable and MROS are available which both reproduce no sound. On his computer every other plugin he has installed is available in output as soon as it is selected in VST Instruments.


Oh and the install locations are the default ones:

STEAM folder is in C:\ProgramData\Spectrasonics\STEAM
Omnisphere DLL is in C:\Program Files\Steinberg\Vstplugins

 

I'm not on Windows, but I took a look and only see one Windows release of v1.5.6d. That was an update, which had to be installed over an earlier release of the program. From what I can tell, you want to get Omnisphere 1.5.0. Install that correctly, and then update to the last version available to you. That should be v1.5.8d, from AIR.

Omnisphere is always like this. You need the initial install content of the entire first version, as if you bought it in a store. Totally out of date by the time you took it off the shelf. Where Omnisphere is a little different, is that you do not need to do all the progressive updates in between the initial version and the most recent one. You can skip all the ones in between.

 

Hey firstly I would like to thank you for the reply, to answer your question I only found one release that had seeders and that was a Repack from 2011 from Ru Tracker (I can send u the link and the torrent file if u want in ur PM), but that's not the point Omnisphere runs perfectly fine look at the images I can select instruments and soo on but the problem is there is no sound because there is no Omnisphere in the Output drop down menu (once again take a look at the pictures). I tried Omnisphere 2 on this same Cubase and the same thing happens, Spectrasonics and Reddit just pointed me to update, get a newer PC and that Omnisphere 2 isn't compatible with this version of Cubase.

EDIT: To add some more context the torrent was around 50GB so yeah it probably can't be just an update since they shouldn't be over a couple of GB's

 

Okay so there is one more thing I've tried since day one and it kinda worked and fixed my problem but I can't activate Omnisphere 1 since that torrent didn't provide a keygen. So on TPB there is this release of Spectrasonics Omnisphere v1.0.VSTi.RTAS.AU.PC.MAC and it had like 6 ISO file's which I mounted one by one via PowerISO and installed, that actually worked but there was no keygen so I could't activate Omnisphere. On the other hand the 1.5.6d version however had a different file structure there were no ISO's, only three folders (Library, Library Update and Plug-Ins) all of them were .exe file's I had to run to install and that's where I'm stuck on.

 

In the screenshot where you have the Omnisphere interface open, on the right side is a Spectrasonics logo. If you click there, you should be able to pick diagnostics. It will show the splash screen and the info is at the bottom left corner. Can you then screenshot that?

It will maybe rule out installation issues, if those entires are right.

 

So I just clicked on that and it just opens the credits tab

 

Did you click on refresh in the preset browser?

When you installed this, did you also install a standalone version? I think the 1.5.6d was one of the earlier versions to include it. Try using the standalone and see if you have any sound.

I guess you already got it installed..


Otherwise, why not upgrading Cubase?
it's pretty much still the same daw.. looks and works about the same

 

You have to figure out if the "no sound condition" is caused by Omnisphere, or not. If Omnisphere is installed incorrectly, it won't matter what daw you test in. To rule out Cubase, I would install an easier to deal with test plugin. It just has to also be an instrument VSTi plugin.

 

Thank you once again for your reply, so my installation process is like this:

I downloaded Omnisphere v1.5.6d REPACK from RuTracker, and there are three folders in there:
1. Library folder (Size: 50 GB) and in this folder there are bin files and one setup.exe file, I just run setup.exe and that's it.
2. Library Update folder (Size: 125 MB) and in this folder there is only one setup.exe file, I just run setup.exe after the first install is done.
3. Plug-ins folder (Size: 20 MB) and in this folder there is setup.exe and a keygen file. First I run the setup.exe to install the correct Omnisphere.dll and after that I Omnisphere and copy the code, then I launch keygen file to and paste the code to generate a keygen, after that I paste the generated code into Omnisphere and then restart Cubase and Omnisphere.

This is my detailed installation process, I leave everything as default since storage space isn't a problem.

Now to answer your question's what do you mean by standalone version ? and how do I refresh the presets browser ?

For your second reply, I don't think Cubase is the problem since every other VSTi plug-in is working correctly and has sound (see the image below). Even Omnisphere has sound if you click on the preview sample play icon, but when you try to record something it has no sound, input bar is showing input like those volume bars in the bottom are showing input but there is no output.

Hey thank you for your reply, the thing is I'm not the one using these programs my father is who is 70 years old right now going into 71 in a couple of months. I already tried installing the latest version of Cubase on his Windows 11 PC but he just refuses to use it because and I quote "It's too complicated!", and now he's been bugging me for the past couple of months (since I work in IT specifically Linux sys admin and he thinks I can fix everything) to look for a solution and here I am searching every single forum I can find about this.

Also sorry for the rant.

Edit: Oh and about the thing you wrote my god was it hard to find that version of Cubase specifically he used to work for a studio back in the day where he had this all installed and now he works on some music for small local movies I had to find the version of Cubase he used way back then and guess what I found it at a site vetusware the file is Cubase_VST_5.1R1_all_full_installer

Well, then make sure you've got the update installed..
"Cubase v5.12 AIR-UPDATE"

It may be completely unrelated to your problem,
but iirc it improved stability considerably..

The full package was called something like:
"Cubase.v5.1.DVDR-AiRISO With Cubase v5.12 AIR-UPDATE"

 

op is using cubase Cubase 5.1R1 VST 32
that is form around 2000 before the code base from cubase and nuendo was unified and then cubase sx was rleased.

the cubase v5 that your on about is from 2008 i think so that update will not work with his version of cubase.

 

I looked at the screenshot, but I only see 3 plugins. And they are not ones I know, or remember.

But to me, it sounds like it is installed ok. Cubase needs to be forced to refresh the plugin manager's contents. Clearing the plugin cache so it rescans. I also remember having to set up any additional folders in preferences, that you wanted the plugin manager to look in.

Stuff like this, from Google: "Open Cubase and open the Plug-in Manager found under the "Devices" tab. Click the cog wheel to open the "Plug-in Manager Settings". 4. If everything fails, remove the filepath, re-scan, add the filepath again and try to re-scan."

And by "Standalone Version", I mean that it installs as it's own application. It is a program, not a dynamic linking library file. (.dll). You would have to open it from your programs list.

that is showing midi ports as in the old cubase vst you didnt have instrument tracks for vst's.
you had to load them in the vst rack and then send midi to them from a midi track.

Yes it that is a default VST that comes pre installed with cubase but this is a virtual machine no point in installing same plugins as on the original PC, on the original PC he has some other plugins and all work fine they can be accessed in that window shown in the screenshot. But when I load Omnisphere it just says MROS and Microsoft Wavetable

 

ominispher will work perfectly fine with the cubase that your talking about as i have used it in the past.

 

Okay so right now I reverted back to a snapshot of a fresh install of cubase and the v1.5.6d Omnisphere. Right now it's installing im going to make a step by step snapshot each time just to see if that gives any more info.
