Hi I'm using a Mac M1 Studio with Logic Pro X. I'm really interested in using a K'd Kontakt (7) with some specific libraries like Teletone Audio and The PhonoLoop, which I have already downloaded. I've been going up and down in this forum trying out different things that might work but no luck. Is there a latest and greatest way to go about this?

 

what issue are you having? kontakt not showing up? kontakt shows up, but the libraries dont?

 

Ok, some context.
— I have all of my Kontakt libraries on an external SSD in a single folder
— At this point, running Kontakt 7.5.2 [HCiSO] (I installed 5.4.1 and 6.7.1 previously)
— Logic Pro is v11.0.1

When I start up Logic
— I get a message : “Kontakt.component” can’t be opened because Apple cannot check it for malicious software."
I figure this is likely because of the K'd replacement Kontakt.component file.

— I also get this message :
"While verifying Audio Unit compatibility, Logic Pro encountered 1 Audio Unit plug-in(s) which did not pass the Apple AU validation. These plug-ins have been excluded from further usage in Logic Pro to prevent possible problems or crashes. You can start the Plug-In Manager now to review the validation results or continue the startup process."
Looking at the Plug-in Manager, it looks like the 6.7.1 couldn't be opened...so maybe that's the issue there?

When Logic finally does open and I get in, I'm able to see all the folders (as grey folders, no signature graphics) and I can hear a preview of any of the libraries. BUT when I double-click to select one, I get this message:
"This instrument belongs to a library that is not installed currently!"

 

When you see the "Can't be opened because...." warning, you need to go to System Settings and -> Privacy and Security and check "allow". You will see a section about 2/3rds down the panel that pertains to Kontakt. You only have to do it once.
This should solve your problem.

 

Are you using KLU? "Kontakt Library Utility"? It's an app for Mac made by one of our fellow members to get Kontakt libraries to install correctly.

hey I just tried that and restarted, and then picked one of the libraries and it did work. I can work with that library. But I tried for another library and got the same old message. Thanks for your help! I see another message about the KLU and will try that now.

 

Thanks so much for posting this, it definitely does work but also it pulling blank folders from somewhere. I think I should probably do a clean install. Meaning I should remove all the other Kontakt versions, remove all traces of anything Native Instruments and do it from scratch. yes? no?

If yes, Would you happen to know what files/folders I should remove to get rid of all traces of it? meaning things in the Library, Xml, plist files etc?

 

I'm sorry, but I don't have those answers for you. I have a couple of blank folders showing up, too. It's really not perfect, but it's K'd software and K'd libraries, so I don't expect it all to be perfect.

I'm calling @clone to this thread. I don't know if he's into Kontakt, but he's really good at Mac stuff.

 

First I would firewall Kontakt with Little Snitch or LuLu firewall, and block Native Access and apps and plugins.
I can't use 7 on MacOs High Sierra, but this is what I would try,


First Xcode needs to be installed, if it isn't already. Agree to all its propoganda:

In Terminal, issue this command and install xcode: xcode-select --install


The Malicious part of that error may be due to Gatekeeper being still enabled. Disable it. You can run the same command with the -enable flag if you need to later:

Open a terminal by pressing Cmd + Space , enter “Terminal” and open the application. Run the following command: sudo spctl --master-disable . Enter your administrator password when requested.

The .component file also needs to be codesigned.


In Terminal: sudo codesign --force --deep --sign then the plugin path and filename.

This will codesign every installed component plugin on the machine that needs it. Let it run, it takes about 5 minutes:

Hi again, @clone I've been going back and forth with this in my spare time, I did all of the above, but still running into difficulty with some but not all of the VSTs. Here is the message I get for some libraries:
"This instrument belongs to a library that is not installed currently!"
All of the files are in the same one folder on an external SSD. Should I be trying to change a nicht file?

 

This is not an issue with the plugins themselves. You get this message because of how you loaded a Kontakt library, or where the samples are located. Use KLU to add the library and generate a .ninct file if needed, under the NINCT tools tab. https://audiosex.pro/threads/klu-kontakt-library-utility-version-2.72857/

 

I will try that. Do you know if there is a way to extract the art from the nicnt file, Id prefer not to lose it when I generate a new one.

Still no luck with a couple of those libraries.

 

Never do it ! Nicnt with embedded wallpaper are official libraries. These nicnt also does include other vital functionalities.
KLU coming with a manual. It is strongly suggested to read it carefully before to take unuseful actions.

 

Use the search function here. Go to the big Kontakt wallpapers thread, then search for the name of the library with the option "search this thread only" checked, and the "search titles" option unchecked. (just so search is faster). Download the wallpaper and add it with Klu.
