Hi, i seem to be having a strange problem, i'm running windows 7 64bit with an m-audio firewire 410 and an edirol pcr-m30 controller. when i have a usb midi controller connected i loose sound completely after a few minutes even though the meters are still working. If i disconnect the usb midi controller it seems everything is ok although i havn't tested that for more than 15 minutes. I have updated all drivers on my computer including pcr's and m-audio's. It happens using cubase elements x64 and presonus studio one v2 x64. And i even tried using a different midi controller i.e akai sythstation25 but im getting the same issue. I have all other audio devices disabled including the onboard one disabled in bios. It also happens if i try and run it through asio4all. If anyone has any ideas that would be great as this is really killing me at the moment!!!! thanks

Are you using a usb hub?

Ive had problems trying to run my synth, APC40 and audio interface through the usb hub. Even though its powered, its almost as if theres just too much strain being put on the hub.

    If not then idk!

Yeah i am actually, ive got a powered usb3 hub running elicenser, midi controller, and a keyboard. My usb ports are usb2 though. I did initially have a problem with that disconnecting constantly which i resolved by turning off power saving options to the hub in device manager. I've been running this setup for about a month or so though without a problem??!

Did u have sound dissapearing issues?

No but occasionally I get a LOT of noise and hiss and the APC40 would often freeze forcing me to disconnect it and restart Ableton.

Its seems like the usb hub and your audio interface are the issue. Can you try and replicate your setup without the usb hub? on another machine perhaps?

Strange that everything worked fine and now all of a sudden youre having problems...

i had 64 bit sound issues...drop out for nothing..my advise is install 32 bit and see if that fixes it. the difference between 32 and 64 bit is very minimal anyway.

Ok, so i took the usb hub out of the equation and it was still the same, so i have now uninstalled cubase 6 64bit completely and went back to using cubase 5 in 32bit and it was working brilliantly. i ran it for half an hour without a problem. Im hoping that my cubase 6 artist which i ordered as an upgrade will turn up tomoro so i can reinstall cubase 6 in 32bit mode this time and hopefully all will be well (fingers crossed) :) im still confused as to why studio one was also having the same issue though as i ran that in 64bit fine since it was released. Its typical this happened on my 2 days off work. ive spent all my time trying to resolve this issue and created no music :(

Thanks for your help so far

Recieved cubase 6 today, I installed it in 32bit and its working amazingly. So if anyone out there is considering going 64bit that hasnt yet and they dont need the extra ram..... I wouldnt bother just yet ;)
