i got it for $14 last summer with a combination of coupons they gave out and it being on sale. great plugin. if you're into Nebula, the Cupwise Ax102 sounds just as good(or better in some situations). the UAD version is on most of my sessions.

 

Sad they don't let people without Apollos (and others) buy the plugins before they're native.

 

I was just going to comment this. The Cupwise Ax102 (V1.1) trumps UAD's all day imo. Not even close. One sounds like a plugin, one sounds like hardware

EDIT: cool that they're bringing more stuff native though! I'd love to see some of the Neve stuff become native

 

Cupwise sounds SO good. I put it on a session the other day that already had the UAD on it and I ended up taking the UAD off and leaving the Ax102 on. It controls the mids better and makes the record feel even more open while still giving the bottom its presence. its really well done.

seriously tho, its not even comparable. Its like comparing a Range Rover to a golf cart. Sure, both will get you to where you need to go...

Is there any cupwise stuff in Sister site or anywhere else? You did make want to try them..
I saw many UAD commercials since week, and am still wondering what would be the best move

 

there is but its an older one. the newer update is better. you can get the older one to try it out though.

 

haha. im not mad at you. and at least you are honest about your bias haha. I've loved UAD since i got the original apollo Twin. Since then I've upgraded my actual setup to include real hardware and its phased out a lot of what originally used it for. I still love their LA2A and 1176. just got the pultec for free which is great. But some things, like the Cupwise, are just better and i have no shame in choosing whats better over the name brand lol

 

Sometimes you really need to use a golf cart. If you drive a Range Rover on an 18 hole round after a heavy rain you'll leave ruts all over the course. They'll never let you come back and they'll sue you for thousands of dollars.
