I thought that SEARCH algorithm is supposed to be intelligent, efficient and assistive. Instead, a person has to help the search function by dumbing everything down.

I will admit that I wish it were easier to search certain things... such as keywords in the description of a post rather than just the title. But that's where this little offering comes into play:

You are all falling for the same thing. Search Algorithms is supposed to take out the hyphen. It's supposed to be intelligent and assistive. Not the other way round.

 

You all fell for the hyphen. But simple telephone audio player know to drop certain article or syntax for effective search. But this algorithm is thrown off by a simple hyphen.

 

Tracker does the same thing. Instead of depending on an "algorithm" to effectively search, you should learn how to build better search strings.

 

hyphens always mean to only return results without the following words (although usually the space might change things)

You are right to some extent. I mean, you can add more tags to the posts and make the post more meaningful. Like Google, when you write something, it brings things close to it. But don't forget that these posts are mostly made by members out of goodwill and people don't have much time to optimize the posted content. Because all the members are busy and don't have more time for the best tagging. In addition, this site is a non-profit site where everyone tries to share what they like and the goal is not to be customer oriented because no one makes money from these posts and the goal is only to help each other. Expanding the search algorithm is possible but it causes more complexity and it is likely to make the members tired.

 

Remember when Google really took over as the most prominent search engine? We started using the term "Google" as a verb. People who were not smart enough, or not willing to learn; found themselves way behind the 8 ball at their jobs and unarmed trying to find new ones.
Now, AI will be the same thing. If you cannot operate a simple search engine, computer-based music production is probably not for you. Of course, Advanced Search on torrent tracker is way more effective if you want "big data" style results. The sister site is only going to return about 20 search results per page. You actually need a decent idea of what you are looking for.

 

just elaborate on the search be more exacting and specific like e.g. Ableton Live Suite, if you are not specific you may not get the results you are after. a simple search like what you are doing is not enough any longer.

 

hyphen is excluding the word behind it.
It is a basic search function, even on Google.

You don't know your basic search engine features ... and complain about "not working".
It is like removing the keys of your car and complaining it doesnt work.

And you still "push it" like "i'm right, you are all wrong".
NOT : YOU are wrong alone.

My ex best friend was a hyphen. I caught him and my wife having sex behind a bookstore in our town. Never trust a fucking hyphen and never marry/date a woman who is a literal stickler for punctuation. Now I'll never be able to spell son in law correctly as I'm so traumatized.
