    Hello Guys,

just asking myself if you would recommend any other VST than "D16 Decimort" to recreate that EMU SP-1200 sound?
There is a SP-1200 VST from Inphonik on the market, it seems to be a whole SP-1200 Emulation (what I actually dont need, I just need that crispy 12-Bit sound).

    Looking forward for your input.
    Thank you.

Airwindows DeRez 2 has become go-to bitcrusher plugin outside of Reaper's own low quality point interpolation settings.

Actually ReaSamplomatic5000 with low quality settings might be my favorite because the sample interpolation (or lack thereof) is pitch/frequency dependent - just like it would be on a really old sampler when you repitch sounds. So the grit changes as you tune the sample rather than just being a static low sample rate on the output like most plugins do.

Try Toneboosters BitJuggler (unrestricted free trial) or Toneboosters Timemachine (free). It’s as good as it gets for SP 1200 sound

Closest thing at the moment is Inphonik RX1200.

You can check my ABX blind comparisson with Original E-mu Systems SP1200 here:

Wavetracing SP950 sounds different, not like original SP.
RX1200 is legit. Everything else (Decimort's, NI Battery\Maschine etc - is off. Way off from the real thing)
Simplest way to go - just load your sounds to RX1200 and simply print then to audio files.

ok, thanks for that. However, I thought Decimort would be the closest on the market. There is a sale for the RX on PB currently, I guess will buy one, its worth a try...

These will all be a waste of your money. Those Wavetracing, Inphonik, and one other "developer name" sounding like any hardware is delusional. I think the developer is probably on his 2 or 3rd name so people may fall for it and buy his plugins again.

I failed the blind test lol, both the one you posted and the one on Iphonik's YT channel. Anyways, I just finished a track using RX1200 and it sounded crunchier than Captain Crunch, it's phenomenal.

Did you take any of the blind tests?

I go for RX950 because i just want the sound effect, not the full sampler experience, which i think is nonsense to my workflow. But RX1200 seems impressive and powerful if you dig into that style of production.

Hell no. I have tried the sp-1200 and the s950 plugins. They are snake oil products to take money from people who fall for anything. It's why the "developer" keeps changing the name of the "company". You'd need to compare them with the plugin on your computer and the unit in front of you for it to be a real test, not something running through someones rando interface and then uploaded somewhere.

Here's a real question. If they are so much like the hardware's sound, after you tried these plugins; did you buy them?

Then how can anyone take your statements seriously if you haven't even tested and properly compared the real thing with the plugins? Anyone can state things just because they want to, it doesn't mean it's truth or useful, and I'd be personally embarrassed to do that. In this case I did properly AB tested both emulations and the real deal, twice in two different tests, and failed at both of them (no, you don't need to have a real SP1200 playing in real time to setup this test, lol. A line-in recording is perfectly fine and it's ultimately what you would hear in a recording). I recommend you do the same with an open mind, you'd be surprised.

So you are blind testing 2 emulations? And you are taking two recorded files from some "disinterested party" in the results?

That is absolutely meaningless to say that these plugins sound like the hardware. Or any hardware for that matter. You've spoken before about the used hardware market in your country, and saying the hardware and the plugins sound the same is meaningless. You are believing the similarity of 2 files on the internet. If you want to waste your money on these things, have at it. But we both know that's not going to happen either way.

It's hard to say such things as your post, if you won't even put your money where your mouth is.
