    Hi, KT-savvy people!
    First, I would like to thank @Introninja to have open this very useful thread years ago!

    My problem is that I can't create a valid .nicnt with "Nicnt Maker" for Bobdule's KT v7.10.5.0 on Win 11, launched as admin.

    R2R KT Manager cannot register it, saying:
    Same with "ADD Library.exe": it can't register the Library.

    The Library's name is Dark Intervals LDW 1973. But beyond that I would like to know what to do in these kind of cases, where the UPID is absent or cannot be created / parsed / calculated (don't know the appropriate term) by "Nicnt Maker".

    ---
    Incidentally, I think that Nicnt Maker.exe is seriously in need for an update: it is no more adapted to recent win versions and to HDPI (meaning you have to play with compatibility options, etc...), and each time you have to copy-paste the exe into the library's folder, instead of browsing to it. I think this is the kind of warmly welcomed update that could be beneficial to all the KT users' community, and it is huge!

    Anyway, I have to thank very much the author of this very essential and clever program, I'm really grateful! :wink:

    R2R Kontakt Manager working only with official nicnt files.

    use another utillity for libraries installation with non-official nicnt files.

    Forgot to say that I use Bobdule's version of Kontakt 7.10.5.0 (Win11).

    Is there other utilities like Nicnt Maker? Will try to search on sister site; Thank you a lot for your answer! :wink:

    EDIT: did not found anything similar, I keep on searching...

    But beyond that I'm curious to know how this UPID is created and registered. Is there are rules? Investigating, it seems this UPID only appears on RAS3 libraries. Is it correct?

    there are many of them... but read again:
    ALL non-official nicnt files doesn't contain <UPID>.
    but other users installing libraries with these nicnt files, right?
    so it is possible, 100%

    Found: "Library Manager" by vkDanilov (included in "Kontakt portable" releases on sister's). 1st option "Automatic search" doesn't work: "No library found". Second option "add folder" appears to work... but in fact, no: Kontakt 7 doesn't show the library, like it doesn't exist.

    I have the same problem with Zero-G libraries.

    @Amore_de_la_Vida strange, it automatically imported all the libraries that I added in Kontakt 5\6, I don't know where the problem is?

    Thanks for your answer! :wink:
    I really dunno, perhaps it's a Win11-specific problem?

    Please note: The problem is specific to "Dark Intervals LDW 1973" and to some Zero-G libraries.

    All the other libraries are registered and working 100%.

    it working with included database of official KP libraries (and it requires periodic updates).

    and these libraries were installed with non-official nicnt filles?

    Not all of them: most of the time I use the nicnt included in the release.

    But each time I have created a custom .nicnt with Nicnt Maker, it have worked... until now.
    Perhaps it's an xml problem? I'm trying to create a custom xml in "Common files\Native Instruments\Service Center", not done yet.

    EDIT: Not working: here is an example of custom xml with Zero-G Ethera Gold Atlantis, based on the .nicnt:

    Code:
    <?xml version="1.0"?>
    <ProductHints spec="1.0.9">
      <Product version="1">
        <Name>Ethera Gold Atlantis 3</Name>
        <Type>Content</Type>
        <PoweredBy>Kontakt</PoweredBy>
        <Visibility>1</Visibility>
        <Company>Zero-G</Company>
        <AuthSystem>RAS3</AuthSystem>
            <SNPID>0W1</SNPID>
        <RegKey>Ethera Gold Atlantis 3</RegKey>
        <ProductSpecific>
            <Visibility type="Number">3</Visibility>
            <Icon>kontakt</Icon>
        </ProductSpecific>
      </Product>
    </ProductHints>

    The same way as now:
    1. Copy Nicnt Maker.exe in the library's folder (arranging some compatibility option + admin)
    2. Launch Nicnt Maker as admin
    3. Typing library's name and vendor
    4. Adding a 3-letter or number digit, generally I use one letter + 2 numbers (here, in this example it is: 0W1)
    5. The ID I chosen is accepted by Nicnt Maker, so I click on "Generate Library"
    6. A new .nicnt file is effectively created inside the folder.

    7.Then I launch "Add Library"... Library is ignored.

    8.Then I double-click on the .nicnt file to launch R2R's Kontakt Manager: "No UPID is available in the ProductHints. NICNT might be depricated one or generated by bad generator".

    The last step is just for knowing what's wrong: R2R's errors messages are often useful to understand what's wrong. Of course I know that this tool doesn't work with custom libraries, it is just to read the error message.

    Can't thank you enough! Thanks to you I learned that the name of the folder is very important: it's why my last attempts didn't work!
    You rocks! :metal:

    I found, with Kontakt 7.x at least, when installing the instrument using the instrument folder name as per the PDF, if one wants the Library view AND the browser view to both function as any other instrument you'll need a proper wallpaper.png in order for the browser view to look "correct".
    Thanks @Talula for the great nicnt!
