I have learned over the years to stick with R2R, whenever possible! They RULE!

Recently, (as evidenced in another current thread) I tried upgrading R2R Groove Agent and got into some trouble. Must have inadvertently deleted something I should've.

Tried V.R version, no luck.

Went back to R2R....success! Still have fix a few libraries (user error, I am sure), but R2R, all the way for the win!

 

Yeah, the older instruction told you to install the certificate in the wrong place I believe, but easy enough to work out the right one it should install the root certificate into with some Googling

Ok, here we go:

1: Uninstalled V.R releases!
2: Installed the certificate as shown in the movie and checked it afterwards.
3: Installed Silk.
4: Installed latest Wavelab release.
5: Works like a charm.

I dont understand the nonsense people talk here.
Like saccamano I have use VR releases for years. I install all from Steinberg download, anything I want, run their unlocker and it has worked for at least the last 3 years. Even before that I used their music heavy Local License generator without issue.
No time bombs. A tiny program that I run if I ever update or install new software.

The only legit software is if you buy it so please shut up saying one is legit the other is not. They are both pirated.

I only ever download VRs releases to see if the B7 unlocker has an update, or the b26 LLG. I use steinberg download manager like a shopping list. Once installed, just run the unlocker. It is the easiest solution. I run the latest cubase on a 10 year old PC without any issue.

I am not hating on R2R - but I am growing cold to them in the same way as people grow cold to apple and their 'fans'.

 

Some claim R2R version works better than Legal (paid@Steinberg) version. But if it is true, 100% unchanged, why should that be the case?

 

Because of the emulator which function better and more efficient.

 

Does this mean that with R2R version, actual application is 100% same as paid for, and only a app (emulator) is added to make it work?

 

Yes that is the case for people who use official installer + r2r cure not for example r2r cubase release and those are just modified for people who have other legit steinberg want to use them legit so they just made minimal change so the app recall license from another location that doesn't interfere with legit licensing system.

bit confused... so if I have a paid Steinberg app then only R2r WITH their deliverd installer will work anyway. The original version downloaded from Steinberg download Manager doesnt work and the VR version also does not work together with a legal installation?

 

if you bought anything from steinberg and want to use activation manager VR patch modifies the activation manager so you wont using your license from steinberg with VR one it is also the same for r2r if you want to use the official installer but if you want to use both legit and pirated then use r2r version of steinberg software which does not interfere with activation manager from steinberg.

you dont read the whole thread like millions

R2R's just makes the silk emu, so original software by Steinberg is 100% untouched
when an update is out, I download and install it (i am a legit user) from Steinberg app, and stay that way for a while

after a week or so I make the copy-past activation manager trick just to apply R2R silk emu, so the authorization goes through the R2R emu, not through the legit Steinberg.

7 times out of 10 Cubase works better using R2R's emu, the other 3 it's the same

any thred is useful for the community, but some are redundant, like this one where we are writing

it started like a "fair evaluation among R2R and VR's steinberg solution", which could have its relative percentage of utility...but ended like another rant by someone that is not able to install properly the releases lol in fact you see as best answer ": how to install cubase pro 13 - YouTube"

there everyone can find EVERYTHING around R2R/VR Cubase and MORE, a lot of interesting tricks and tips that make life so easy, and very important there you can find people that know cubase, know R2R/VR and share the best ideas with no time wasting. We just have to sacrifice reading. I read that thread when there are new msgs even if I dont have issues lol its very good

ok Sherc? I invite you to read that thread and to write there if you have any issue. Anyhow I will write here for the Xllion time how it works

assuming you already have R2R's silk emu installed and verified working:

-open Steinberg manager
-if you have any app already installed it will automagically put a red point that means UPDATE AVAILABLE HERE (it's small but hard to miss lol)
-you hit "download and install" and everything goes on automagically, like legit user
-at this point you make this 3 steps move:
0 close cubase and all steinberg apps, including the manager, make sure all are closed in the task manager
1 copy "license-engine-access.dll" from C:\Program Files\Common Files\Steinberg\TEAM R2R
2 go in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Steinberg\ and past and overwrite it in "Activation Manager" folder (admin rights required)

that works with EVERYTHING downloaded via Steinberg app/or site and will work UNTIL Steinberg doesnt update their protection. When Steinberg will update R2R witches will give us an updated silk emu version.

and we will start another thread to repeat how to install it lol

Yes you can

 

This is exactly what I've tried to explain many times!

The Witches' solution is absolutely brilliant, because all is concentrated in this very tiny .dll file - less than 10ko! - "license-engine-access".

- Your registry is NOT modified in anyway
- Your system is not messed up in anyway (no superfluous system files nor dll in your system folders!)

To sum up: this solution is super clean, not invasive, exactly the opposite of the VR solution.

@kargozarmj and other legit users:

If you want to mix legit and Witches: don't do the procedure described by @patatern, and use only R2R releases in parallel with your official ones, as the patched witches' releases don't interfere with the legit ones: both systems are separated and independent.

i reported about this in the first page of this thread, days ago I think

I have clearly wrote: I mix em all the time lol
when R2R is in pause you can download from the site and apply the trick, no need to wait for their release if you are in a hurry

there's just a limitation about official steinberg libraries - sound banks - samples
you can use the unlicensed stuff only on R2Red apps

you cant use unlicensed banks on legit apps, as it's pretty obvious but better to remind here

I didnt have much attention on this issue when I posted yesterday and I was awared of the Silk application but couldnt figure out how to install the certificate.......... prolly why why I missed it
