Hi great writer! Normally you can edit your first post to add a poll... unless I'm wrong?

OR (French method) you can roll a pair of dice (and/or write each Composer's name on little papers, put the papers on a bag, and ask an innocent hand  to pick a paper at random?

OR ask people to add a message containing only the nickname of the composer of their very favorite song among the propositions, each message counting for a vote.

My vote goes to the amazing - and so sincere, so touching! - Lois Lane composition!

Note that the person that will be elected, will have to organize the next context:

    1. Find a beautiful, moving, sensible, 'speaking', meaningful, inspiring, or very strange - your choice - image.

    2. Open a new thread "A Friendly Contest #2" and put the image of your choice on it. No need for long explanations, just ask anyone to compose something directly inspired by this image.

    3. Each one passing by is warmly invited to review / critic / write something about the compositions proposed, be it an impression, a meditation or a simple thought in response to the music...

I am late to this so I most likely missed entry times.

I see openness and peace. The reflections on the water of the clouds with no ripples indicate peaceful surrounds and water that is still. The greenery is clean indicating an unlikelihood of being overcast. I can include solitude, relaxation and a meditative state into the openness and peace easily. That is what I would compose, something floating, peaceful, and almost meditative. I'd hang that on a wall honestly.

    @JMOUTTON ..
It was one of those typically beautiful green sky days on our farming planet Tallan, third moon of seven of the medium sized planet SP4 circling the white dwarf NJ5439XA7 in Solar System SP66889347v, or as we have named this rock that we affectionately call Moutton Home after our glorious founder Jehoshaphat Moutton, botanist, explorer and our guiding light. I guess when you live in a place you can call it what you want, and damn those bureaucrats on Earth II that insist on protocol and other dotting the i's and crossing there t's. bullshit. We're the ones who arrived, cried, died and terraformed a barren rock in some outback galaxical nowhere quadrant into the leading supplier of the most yummy, nutritious and pure algae in probably the entire universe! After twenty-three generations of working the water nobody has the right to dictate to us how or what to call our home...but anyway, I digress.

Our collective was seeding Pond AG6579 after one of our best harvests on record. It was left fallow for the regular 190 cycles and we were again ramping up for production. The entirety of of our group was here, all 18 of us not including the little ones strapped onto one of their parents backs or the older kids supervised by our matriarch Aunt Rond-ha (who was perhaps too old to, as we like to say "get wet", but vibrant enough to look after and teach the older children the basics of our farming methods and mesmerize them with her colorful and magical stories of our early, homesteading days). Like I said before, it was a beautiful green skied day, the thousands of blooming ponds on our little piece of heaven reflecting their deep emerald color onto the Myrabillium infused wafer thin carbon exoskeleton that surrounds this satellite and keeps the atmosphere in and the vacuum of space out (invented by one of our own scientists mind you, Aidene Bethlehem who's six meter tall statue stands at the entrance to Mouttonville's main gate aptly named the Amore_de_la_Vida). Usually when weather kicks up there is ample warning, those telgraphing clouds that look like little puffy Yandovian Bassifiondi puppies tapping you on the shoulder to take cover under the nearest machinery bivouac, until a few minutes later it rolls on by and you can get back to business. However, on the rare occassion and out of almost nowhere (like today) the clouds and the coming storm appear simultaneously and you are battered by both a sheet of pouring water and 80 kph force winds for a few minutes before it just dissipates like it was never there at all.

You really need to put the articulate stories I have seen you write for years into a short stories book. That's only my opinion because I think you have a gift. :winker:

    That's exactly what I think!

@Lois Lane I'd like to suggest you could start by opening a blog on Medium... Or an audio podcast on Spotify... Or whatever media you'll find convenient and easy. You have this incredible richness and talent in you, why not sharing it with the world?
If ever you need help (like a male voice with an horrrrrible French froggy accent of course! :winker: ), just ask!

P.S. Not related: more I listen to your composition, more I think your voice have something in common with the Guns'n'Roses singer, Axl Rose...

Nice.. too late, not to vote tho. Sorry, things have changed a bit at work, takes a lot of energy and to make matters worse i remembered a wrong deadline...... anyway

@Bassifondi interesting ! Completely get this submarine feeling and almost sounds like in a game. Some parts a bit too dissonant for my personnal taste, although i like the contraste of round, almost bubbly sounds and the crispiness of others. Nice experimentation !

@Backtired really lovely.. top notch intro, and overall very nice and progressive track. It get's you there.. of course, retroactively we can always say it could have been better with this or that, i find it to be already perfect as is. Feels like a party was thrown into the paint, we've danced all night long and, still not tired enough, are now in the afterparty celebrating the dawn of a new day ! Which is always for me as much a nice, beautiful time as it is very painful for the heart!

@JMOUTTON excellent! this one is for the afternoon paint-party haha. Starts with a punch ends in fractal, yet somehow poetic inside. Well mastered atmosphere. Very different track from the others too, but despite this it keeps some of the same textures and ambiance, expressed with other words. Very good job...

@Lois Lane very very nice too.. very dark and personnal, love the way you've shaped it. Feels like in the first part you're holding your head in your hands, tired but interiorly howling for a peace of mind which second part reminds you in a grave yet light tone you'll never have. Then the 3rd part is more of a culmination of emotions, the story of it all, love, guilt, weariness,... at least that's how i interpret it ! Great track. (i love the high pitched, haunting sound that makes a sudden appearence at 3:19-3:20)

i also remember @Pontius track that was amazing, so much texture you could almost touch it. But seems like swisserland locked it in a safe, probably national treasure ! And @Aidene 's one that was very much 'Aideny', getting you deep in thoughts as well, with that one transporting you in a kind of sea of regrets..

If they absolutely all deserve a medal, being a child of trance and a dancer, i'll vote with my heart and go with @Backtired for this one !
Thanks all for sharing your tracks :)

So, not an entry but i kinda like it. A waste to just let it rot away. Done this last month but couldn't finish, too short. It's pretty much all in one take. Extremely different from how i usually play around with music in several ways so, i must thank you @Lois Lane for the impulse to try other things !

I was able to listen to only 4 tracks plus mine.
I think it might be better to post them all to a page with the painting so listeners can dig the concept and the connections.
I love all the tracks and i'm thanking the universal energy of DNA that I was finally in the mood to freely listen.

YES, you're right! It could constitute a beautiful compilation / album, if everything is reunited at the same place, on the same host... brilliant!

    Same for Contest #2, etc...

    . . .
Speaking of... @aschnt: even if it's too late for this one, I hope you will be there for the second edition? ...And the third? ... And the... etc...

(I promise: there will be no drama this time! Only cool, relaxed, friendly ambiance... Fingers crossed...)

Hello everyone, passing by to give my vote.

But not before congratulate everyone first. each one with their unique style, there were no bad songs to me.
its though when you're comparing apples and lemons.

my vote goes to @Lois Lane. what a hit. . very caliente guitar solo. and the second half is very cool too.

I also really liked @JMOUTTON track, a real banger.

Lastly i want to mention @Aidene track for fitting so well (the most) with the picture.

    :goodpost: everyone
