What happened and how to repair it? Suddenly the crackling started occurring on the particular project. Whatever track I play, audio or midi instrument track, or in a new project and imported track from this ill project, it crackles.

    Check:
    - how is the cpu (high)? And your buffer in your audio card (too low)? (increasing the buffer from 64 to 128 or 256 or even higher (512, 1024) may help - but this increases latency!).
    - any cpu heavy plugin - or buggy ones - in the project tracks? (to test, go eliminating one after another to see if you can find the culprit).

In my system, Ableton starts to crackle very early, usually before their shitty cpu meter hits 50% - sometimes even less, depending on the plugins).

I have considered migrating to Bitwig, but... love ableton's workflow and features despite its far from good performance.

PS: that's what comes first to my mind. Hope you find a solution!

All CPU related issues are taken out of the equation when he tests using a wav file from the project in a new blank project.

The problem is a parameter than can be carried over from one project to another. First guess, would be sample rate. But I do not use Ableton.

Maybe some parameter related to the sample playback/quality/warping quality?

It started crackling just 2-3 days ago. CPU Meter is OK, up to 75%. The other projects have more CPU Overload and they are good. I will check the other ASIO drivers and audio interfaces and recreate the project from scratch again. I can use Fast Track Pro and Tacsam US144MK2. I could also suspect the latest updates of drivers for the network card BT or graphic card.

Increase buffer size (or max it out if it's in mix phase).

Up the buffer, or find the plugin culprit

Buffer up, removed the tracks one by one, removed all the plugins, still crackling. I have recreated the project from scratch and crackling is not occurring:dunno:. Thanks, guys for your help, anyway.

I use the same plugins in the new projects. By the way, I use Ableton 12.0.5 in Windows 11.

!!!SOLVED!!! The latest update of BIOS/UEFI caused the issues. I have had to revert BIOS to the older version.
