Is there any kontakt library or vst drum instrument that has this snare drum and kick sounds?
Hope this post is on the right place. TIA

I'd try with a drum library that lets you mix the mics. Mute/turn down the top and bottom mics and bring up the room and overhead mics for the snare. Probably put a reverb after.

Strezov Creative Toolbox Drums Free, Krimh Free. Both work in the free Kontakt Player.

Start with close mics at 0, leaving only overheads and room mics. Bring back a bit of the direct mics when you're happy with the OH/Room mix.

But truly - pretty much any library that lets you mix mics works too.

Agree with xorome. But I'll add that it's not so much the kit as how it was mixed and the fx used. His real kit probably sounds nothing like the one in the vid.

you wont find a library that sound exactely like that track

what we hear there is the result of a "complex mix", lets say, with

    4 parallel layers:

    -dry drum sounds
    -parallel compression-saturation-whatever
    -parallel room sound compressed-distorted
    -parallel reverbs

all layers in a processed drum buss

some notes: High hats have a very different ambience/reverb than the snare, same for the KD

I think that any of the free library quoted by xorome is a good starting point for the "dry drums sound", but to obtain a similar result you need "mixing"

All that makes this sound kinda unique is the room sound. I am certain that all the drums you hear in this song, is mostly room mics. You can easily recreate such a drum sound in Superior Drummer just playing with ambient/room mics on the mixer and the correct drumset.
    Cheers

As I recall, the guys in this band are gear whores and back in the day they took their label signing bonus and bought a studio. If that helps. Their sound is typically very roomy (at least on the songs I can remember) and it's going to be room mics and quite possibly chamber mic'ing. In other words, fire up Superior Drummer or BFD (or Kontakt Abbey road, Drumdrops, etc.) and start effing around with the mix by muting close mic's and upping the room microphones. Apply eq and compression to taste. To me it sounds like drums in a room. If you're a drummer, mic up your drums with room mics (careful with the distances so the phase is coherent) and set up another mic or two over in another room or two or three.

If you're truly intent on cookbooking it, I can say that the drums sound like what I think of when I hear vintage Ludwigs/WFL and he has a VERY HEAVY HAND. This sounds like a sendup to Led Zeppelin. I'd be surprised if they don't all play together when they put down tracks. Find a drum library with vintage Ludwig shells in standard sizes (13, 16, 22), a Ludwig Supraphonic (I would go 6.5x14") or Black Beauty, an old and VERY NICE 16 or 18" Zildjian crash ride, and probably very beaten yet somehow expensive 14" old zildjian hihats. I would be absolutely stunned (being the gear whores they are) if they aren't using unobtainium mic's (u47's, Telefunkens, big dong C12's, Ribbons) and commiting it to expensive, expensive tape through a shithot vintage console at very smokin' levels. Be sure to listen to Joy Division a lot, take a bunch of amphetamines, imagine yourself as John Bonham, and hit that shit as hard as you can.

I just brought up a handful of live performances on the TubeYou and in every single one of them he is playing a one up/one down Black/Gold Duco WFL set with what appears to be a Ludwig Supraphonic. One set of hihats, and one crash (maybe crash ride?) cymbal. On top of the hats he has a tambourine. Must've taken it off for this song. He's actually a pretty good drummer. Nice post.

Scratch that. I see a few more live performances where he is playing various other vintage Ludwig kits. He sounds exactly the same no matter what, which goes to show it's all in how you set up the heads and the choices you make re: material, stick, hit, etc.

Okay man. I found your library. Here you go:

    BFD Drums
Andy Johns Classic Drums by Platinum Samples
An excellent preset that comes with it that will be a perfect starting point is: AFJ Kit 1 Big (Roomy)

    I hope this helps.

Yes yes I was looking for this kind of library, very roomy kits and presets (no need to mix so much) that fit perfect to what I wanted...Tons of thanks bro.
