What's the advantage of AU over Proaudiotorrent or even AudioZ?

 

I think the one big advantage RuTracker over AN is placing releases in original form, not in archives, so users can seeding even parts of stuff they downoladed.

I keep my account there for the 1% of stuff that is either way too ancient and old to be available anywhere else or that gets DMCA'd everywhere else but I always look *everywhere* else before I download there because ratio is difficult there

 

There's tons of shit on AN that's not on Ru... otherwise I'd actually agree with you

You'll likely get punished for attempting to seed there.
If you don't use the exact ancient torrent app they only support with the exact settings they suggest, you will actually lose ratio while you seed.
Even if you manage to track down the right app and set it up correctly, you are also likely to lose ratio while seeding.
Nobody there gives a shit.

 

If someone invited a user, they would definitely care. Otherwise, inviting people who do not know what they are doing would be a black mark on them also. If some random can't figure it out, who should care about that? Obviously if someone cannot figure out something as simple as how to contribute bandwidth, how to read some rules, or read some posts on a forum; what kind of loss is that to anyone?

 

They designed that ratio b.s. on there so that unless you're constantly seeding stuff you'll ALWAYS eventually drop behind. And once you're behind in ratio you're pretty much screwed. AN is pretty much like anything else (so-called "FFS" are the worst) that charges $ for warez - it's an abomination and totally goes against what the entire scene is about.

 

It's true that AN has some exclusive releases in torrent format, and even things that were lost in time and ended up there somehow. It's a great place for that (and for lightning speed downloads). Fortunately (or unfortunately) I never really needed what's supposed to be the exclusive goodies, so I don't mind hanging out there.

 

At least, maybe someone need for some stuff from Cymatics?) I`m seeding now a few big packs on AN and few Kontakt libraries

 

Pro tip for AN -> Download scene release elsewhere, dl torrent from AN and point it to the release..
I.e. Right now the new Toontrack´s Jazz sdx gives you pretty good upload..

PAT has less DMCA's
Audioz has most comments

 

ru isnt specifically audio scene , if you look at it that way.
its a bit of all the private trackers so ru does lack fast releases , but not ratio watching is worth the trade off in tandem with the sister site for specific sample and preset things , and soulseek even has an astonishing amount of current and super old sample packs .

ultimately its i think a subjective matter of convenience vs time and effort on the end user side , because most people dont bother with the more technical aspects of any warez scene as long as its free and works

 

Exactly. It is more of a general purpose site/tracker, like TPB or Demonoid and so on. But it has most current audio releases, just not the very old and hard to find ones. Thanks for the Soulseek reminder.

 

Audionews is by far the easiest private tracker to build a ratio on. Just seed a few new uploads that you think will become popular (Kontakt, Izotope, etc) and your ratio will skyrocket within a week. There is no time cap or seeding limitations at Audionews so as long as you're one of the first seeders of a new torrent you will increase your upload stats extremely fast.

Anyone who is paying for ratio needs to learn how to properly build ratio on private trackers before naively running their stats into the ground within a day of having their account.

 

Is it good insight, but what to do when you're stuck under 0.8 ratio? It`s just paralyze the account

 

I've been a member there for 7 or 9 years or something, I haven't been able to successfully seed anything in the past 5 years since i switched to Windows. Back when i was on Mac though, the mac torrents were much easier to seed for some reason.
These days however, i'll get 500kb here one week, 1.5mb there another week, everything else at 0. I have 100's of releases that are sitting there available to be seeded, but nobody is ever downloading from me. For a long time i thought my torrent app was broken, then i thought my router was broken, eventually i just accepted that it's not possible and now I just pay to keep the ratio up.
Doesn't bother me too much tbh, it's a small price to pay in the grand scheme of things.

 

I've never understood what the big deal about that site is.
