Hey guys, hopefully someone can help me with this, the main riff sound (kalimba) in the Schiller - Ein schöner Tag track, see YT link below if you want to hear it, it's the very first musical sound you hear:

I've tried various kalimba sounds, I believe it's a kalimba sound, nothing seems to match that one.
The track was produced in the late 90's, thinking he used one of the hardware units at the time, just not sure which. I got few of the VST's including OsTIrus (in case he used Access Virus), can't find a matching sample, can anyone point me in the right direction to get that sound please?

Sounds like a combination of two sounds to me, perhaps a kalimba and a pan flute gemished zusammen.

My daughter just had to read Frederik Schiller's Die Räuber for gymnasium so we've had enough of Schiller around here, thank you!

 

I would say that's an Indian Tabla (or a v. similar type of drum), either real or synth

I never run out of English as it's my first language. It was the title of the thread that skewed me in that direction and I felt that, like what I hear in the sound example, to "mish" it up in my reply.

 

I think you're right, just sampled a tabla sound and played along, much more similar than a kalimba. Not perfect, but EQ etc, hopefully I get it right.
