    Thanks for your time

x was NI and y, timp
please don't tell me now you can hear some magic warmth in y... besides one guy, no one took the risk and tried to guess the test... not even this brother:
again, I suggest NI comps(76 and 2a. didn't test others) over timp for anyone who wants something like timp, but with less cpu usage, working meters, and easy installation...at least just test them, maybe they worked.
    it's 2024 :) please don't worship ANYTHING.
forgive me for my off-topic posts.

I didn't do the test because you just posted two random wav files and they could be anything :)

I never track with Nebula, I only use it for mixing, but if I did I would choose the zero latency version of the plugin.

The thing is we are all doing A/B/C/D testing with Nebula & Algo plugins, even different flavors of each technology, and then we choose what fits the track the best. It should also be noted that the Nebula effect can be quite subtle and it is accumulative over many tracks, just like the real hardware is.

At the end of the day everybody should choose what works for them, and as my old grandad used to say, there's more than one way to skin a cat ...

Facts. And I’d just like to add my two cents as someone who has been using Nebula for a few months now. I LOVE the Cupwise AX102 Tape Machine on melodies. Like you said, it has that accumulative thing where the acute difference is so subtle, but man it just has this smooth, buttery “flow-enhancing” property that i love.

It also depends on what equipment you are monitoring with. I'm lucky enough to have the gear that can detect small differences in sound, whereas my previous setup was quite poor in comparison, so there are many variables in play.

BTW, I preferred Y whatever it is, as it sounds smoother and more polished.

    Not soon enough!

Could be 2026 or 2027 :dunno:

Computex 2024 is on June 4-7, so we should hear more about Zen 5 then.

Use what you like, as long as you get to the destination you are willing to camp. becoming plugin snobs is not what creativity is built upon.

I was listening through crappy headphones with a lot of beer in the system. Don’t be smug about your BS A/B tests. I thought you were playing games. Listening in my studio, Y and X are both compatible, but Y wins by listening more carefully. But again. If you don't like Nebula, use NI. You're free to chose what you like - now make good music.

And I don't know who you have singing this crap, but you should worry more about talent and less about tools...

In your defense, TimP's L-Bus v2 absolutely knocks NI's vintage comps out of the park, not just in terms of sound but also according to Plugindoctor. Even if you run the NI comps at 192kHz and the LBus at 96kHz, where it was sampled. Granted they're different kinds of compressors but regardless.
    I love plugindoctor

oh, classic acustica/nebula fanboy reaction. keep your adrenaline stable my brother:)
who says I don't like nebula? if I was not happy with timp comps... why should I make myself to make something similar in my daw (mentioned in my first post)?
(after revealing) as you said by listening carefully Y is the winner... but is x the loser one? no
the test was not for lowering the timp value... but it was for proving my word(that you laughed at it). they are like each other... not 100%, but enough... for who is interested.

it was a free vocal from cambridge-mt.com
but, thanks for your suggestion :)

I would have added a touch of Nebula EQ to get that presentation you liked from X, while maintaining the superior audio quality of Y
