    It's a pretty hot deal.
I also like about Sonar, that the budget versions (this one) are not as stripped-down as with some other DAWs, e.g. Cubase. Basically, it's missing some VST instruments and third-party plugins (comparison), but the sequencer itself is almost untouched: no limitation on tracks, sample rates, engines, views, simultaneously used plugins, etc.

Unfortunately, I've just had way too many bugs in Sonar (although admittedly, X3 is much much better than X2). Although with a price this low, one might be tempted to deal with it. But personally, I'd say Reaper is still the better bargain. Just my 2 cents. Thanks for the post! I've used sonar for a while, and don't see too many other people that are interested in it, ha!

It is a really good DAW for 30 bucks. If you get newbie confused go to the steam discussion boards for Sonar and its little brother MC6T. Tons of newbies there so way better than the official Cakewalk forums. It isn't crippleware like most intro DAWs. You can really create stuff with it with very few limits. Still it confused the besnozzle out of me and I went with the 100 buck Studio One and never looked back.

I was about to pull the trigger but they left a major feature out of the $30 version..."audio snap".

So basically, there's no time-stretching or audio quantizing.

If you're into making remixes or DJ edits this is a complete deal breaker...at least for me.
