One evening I was really missing my grandmother for no particular reason. It had been a while, her memory atomized in some misty recess of my mind and began thinking back to how much I loved her, how she loved me back as only a grandmother could. She was a great cook, making traditional recipes handed down from her own grandmother when she was a child in her small village in Poland, now over 130 years ago. My mouth began to water when I thought back to how delicious her amazing egg noodles tasted that she would sometimes make to put into the yummiest chicken soup that she'd prepare for me.

This is a little thing I did when reminiscing about that time.

An old friend's older brother is/was? a curator at The Louvre, and with that mindset took a cookie from his grandmother's house soon after her passing, had it treated by a restoration expert at the museum and mounted it in a glass case. Yes!!!

Thanks, I just bang away and periodically I have my moments. Noodle is both figurative as well as literal in the sense of this piece.:winker:

Great composition..love that. only thing I can suggest is if you have the arturia v collection, try the piano 3 Bill Evans patch, its a darker jazz piano would give you more air between the piano an pads or upper frequencies and instead of trailing off with the pads, solo the dark piano for about 20 seconds while slowing the pace and have plenty of sustain pedal and let the notes die off it will sound more nostalgic an longing..

    great - thanks for sharing....

Had a Polish Aunt visiting when we were kids. She cooked the family a polish cabbage dish stuffed with mincemeat, which, we frankly struggled to eat (it was awful, tbh) but, to avoid hurting her feelings we rubbed our tummies. She beamed a wide, proud smile and cooked it for us again the next evening.

Lovely tune and sentiment, @Lois Lane!

this sounds very exotic to my ears.

the middle of the song is very vivid, also melancholy. very good work.

and to your story, time can be very cruel, when you realize that the moment will never come back, seconds turn into day, into years and the ones you loved are just gone forever. What only stays are the memories which will also fade the longer you move away from that point in time - its just a cruel realization ... but we can always choose to walk around in our memories and keep them alive.

and you will always remember, when you listen to this song.

Good atmosphere but it's like a kitty playing with a ball of string without knitting needles.

Mission accomplished! Astute observation as it's also filtered through my own existential angst. Nothing is simple.

Very nice and meditative experience :) ! It gets you there. Love the atmosphere, details and panning.
Made me shed one, reminescing about my own grand pa. Playing hide n seek in the supermarkets, stopping and praying religiously in the whisky lane, for the devine Lagavulin he loved so much. Doing so many new experiences in life because of him.
As you said Artic, time can be very cruel, an unforgivable steamroller nothing can beat.. not even memories. All end up flattened and renewed. But damn, what a good time that was.

Thanks a lot Lois for sharing <3. Merci papy, je taime.

sometimes you dont need any drums, when the other elements create the groove. i know nothing for the newer generation.
