This is a lil piano theory thing I've been workin on for beginners/intermediate but most anyone could learn something from it if they don't know much theory.This is the first instructional thing I've ever done,been planning on doing this for awhile.This is a very crude rough draft,no editing was done,and I didn't record over vocals or record vocals as I was doing it,I know it would of made it much nicer.But this is a first run.Please excuse the audio quality it's from my keyboard and I think it compressed it when it made the vid and it sounds a lil sub par to my tastes,but should be good enough to get what I wanted.Also I only used the Jupiter for a big keyboard viewer and recorded my keyboard thru the line in.I just titled each vid with the lesson it was covering.This is just the Key of C for starts.Please excuse my couple mistakes as well.Let me know if there's anything I could do better.Like I said this is 1st try so...If this goes well,I'll do one for all 12 keys.And I'll do others covering sus,aug,dim,tritones,ditones,and other lil stuff.Let me know what you think and if you like...

Not a problem,if even one person gains something from it,I'd be happy.Just trying to give a lil something back to the Audiosex family.
Most of the advanced guys and even most intermediate guys prolly already know this stuff,and I'm admittedly not the greatest,I'm sure there's guys here that'll make my head spin.But there's a lot I could teach a beginner.Counting the scale degrees(Major or Minor) is pretty useful for figuring out harmonies 3rd,5th,7th,9th,11th,13th,etc.And 1,3,&,5 is always the triad chord.In this I just show the root & 5th left hand method for playing with 2 hands,alot of guys will play root,5th,octave with the left or that and an inversion with the right.Plays on different tones or harmonic values.And there's countless chord progressions,(Well,lol) I just gave a couple basic examples. *yes*

 

Just an advice: maybe you could add some graphic to explain what you are doing in your tutorials, I mean...I know music theory so I understand even without any explanation but for who start from zero it's not so easy.

I have a good ear for music; pitch, harmony etc. and woukd love to be able to iprovise and jam better.
So amalways interested in 'theory for dummies' style tutorials.
And of course chord theory.

Have been meaning to try to learn more about the 'circle of fifths' to see if it might help me or not.
What's your view on this?

Well seeing how this turned out I will definitely be making more,in the other 11 keys.And I'll either record a mic explaining what I'm doing or text or notation or a combination of both on the next ones.May edit these too. Definitely appreciate the feedback too.
And Dalmation the circle of 5th's/4th's is great,it can open up new worlds tonally,memorizing what notes correspond with other notes is very useful.For instance a lot of gospel music will constantly work in 4ths,sometimes only 3 chords a 4th from each other.And I can't stress how important 5ths are,they are generally the one note other than the root that is constant whether Maj or Min.Root and 5th is always the same.I also kind of found it interesting that 7ths,9ths,11th's,and 13th's are just extensions of the triad.For example,Cmin7 is C minor and Eflat Major.Cmin9 is Cmin,Eflat Maj,and G min.It's goes on like that all the way up and down the board.Those relative majors and minors are useful to memorize,you get a taste for the sound after awhile.I find myself playing in 2 different keys sometimes playing on a particular tone,example F root and 5th in left hand,Amin7 in the right.But yeah I highly recommend the circle of 5th's/4th's.Well all,thanks again.
