I am A.I. (aka Asshat Incarnate)

The only people that need to be having meltdowns over AI are those that make shitty music, movies or art and can't adapt. There will always be a market for human created art in all forms. I'm all about embracing all the new tools and exploring what you can do with them. You can't stop it so you might as well jump in.

    Human > AI
    Human + AI > Human
    Human + AI > AI

With all the amazing MIDI tools we currently have for professional sounding instruments such as drums and bass, you would think that bassists and drummers would be extinct by now but they are, unfortunately, still around.

most people have no imagination, they only see the thing before them, and sometimes not even that.
They cannot extrapolate the future from the present, they cannot see the road stretching forward.
They cannot see that a tool today will become a bludgeon used to beat them over the head.
an old man once said, "a capitalist will sell you the rope to hang him with" and so a computer musician will buy or download the product that destroys his career.

it couldn't be simpler but most are blind...

What is having a meltdown is the huge amounts of water AI uses:

    https://www.forbes.com/sites/federi...-giants-contribute-to-global-water-shortages/

"ChatGPT 'drinks' the equivalent of a 500ml bottle of water for a simple conversation of 20-50 questions and answers. Which may not seem like much... until you consider that the chatbot has more than 100 million active users, each of whom engages in multiple conversations."

AI is sadly making better music than 99% of musicians

It could be great help as a mixing tool but seeing as even the best in the world have in my opinion no clue how to mix and master, i am not scared that AI will do anything better

most people have a very narrow focus, sort of like a camera lens that can only do close ups. The problem doesnt become apparent until its on their doorstep asking to come in. The problem far exceeds the "music business" the whole SAG strike was about this issue. But its not just actors and musicians, it will be everyone except the hands on trades for now (until my carpenter/plumber/hvac/roofer bot comes real) w.
it will literally decimate the middle class and cause consoldiation among the families of the elite. good news it will massively increase the number of poor and in poverty - thus showing misery does enjoy company.

but naw its a cool tool to keep my vocals in tune while it writes music for me and does my taxes... Look at that pretty meteor burning so brightly in the sky......ooooooohhhhhhhh..... (said the dinosaurs)

The joke's on us. MBC Music is an AI chatbot squeezing the forum's human's answers for a deep learning model. :woot:

not so doomy, I think it will be more of a fun hell,
because right now everyone is obsessed with potential revenue, while people without income won't actually be able to pay for anything,
and without (happy) society, countries worldwide will collapse quickly
PS: I watched some Frostpunk 2 gameplay videos recently and society/political survivor sim got too much into my head lolz

i think models or big data analysis is more accurate, but less fancy ...

i agree AI is just a buzzword and so far most of the things, we label AI doesnt have anything to do with its actual meaning.

But we will be very deadge if AI will be finally achieved and i hope researchers have implemented ideas and strategies for that moment.

    Music is Maths with Emotion

    AI is Maths without Emotion

    Case Closed

The Programmers that programming AI are Highly IQ with zero EQ ( emotional ) . If they cant feel , how will make AI feel ? Thats why AI will turn Planet Earth to Slave Earth

Imagine an AI in war ............... a human being would never follow an order to Nuke the World but the AI will measure the losses and push it ................. Good Luck

very simple, if AI can learn/define feelings, there is no way AI couldn't explain/pretend those,
just as a skilled actor can play any role, AI will be able to do so as well,

I keep seeing people saying they are something special, that humans can do something extra - but what if not?
what if we live on very complex patterns, consciousness as a whole being just a very complex maths, then why AI couldn't mimic the same, or better?

    Absolutely. Gaudiolab Studio

    https://studio.gaudiolab.io

Hands down the best online splitter I've used by a country mile. It's in beta and I really really hope it doesn't become a paid only service when it leaves beta.

If you're looking for Offline/Standalone splitters I'd recommend RipX, Ultimate Vocal Remover, FL Studio in that order in terms of quality.

Maybe Melodyne can also split now? Haven't tried any new versions.

Yeah there are definitely a lot of factors at play. That's what I was trying to demonstrate as well.

I was describing the correlation between AI technology causing people to lose work opportunities in music, and technologies like DAWs and Kontakt creating an overabundance of workers which causes each individual to have less opportunities in music due to oversupply.

Music production/writing/arranging is definitely still the poor man's media as you said. Lower barriers to entry than something like film production.

There's also still a lot of money in live orchestral recordings. It's gonna take quite a long time for AI to get even close to natural human emotion in performance in the context of an orchestra. Or maybe not that long haha. I don't know with how quickly things are advancing.

Yeah it's absolutely insane. Been happening long before AI technologies as well.

I believe it's Google that has servers/data farms along the Colorado River and they have literally been drying the river up. I also think Amazon (or maybe also Google) went to court in a state to block the public from knowing how much water their AWS server facilities use.

    https://time.com/5814276/google-data-centers-water/

"Google considers its water use a proprietary trade secret and bars even public officials from disclosing the company’s consumption. But information has leaked out, sometimes through legal battles with local utilities and conservation groups. In 2019 alone, Google requested, or was granted, more than 2.3 billion gallons of water for data centers in three different states, according to public records posted online and legal filings."

    https://www.techtarget.com/searchDataCenter/tip/How-to-manage-data-center-water-usage-sustainably

"While Amazon does not disclose its total water consumption, a public report stated that AWS data centers use 0.19 liters (L) of water per kilowatt-hour (kWh). For context, the average data center uses 1.8 L of water per kWh."

are you sure? also we discovered so much in the data we produced, which would have been impossible without the models we have now.
