    Electri6ity | Vir2 Instruments - Kontakt Electric Guitar Library

As far i see this software has been existing since 10 years ago i think, and its still the most pricey in its category...

my question is, when was the latest update for this? or its a software that was made 10 years ago?

i can't understand why it remains the most pricey option since then? no other big competitors?

It was ahead of its time back then, still nothing of the sort has appeared using more modern technology. On the surface it's just a sample library but apparently it has some modeling elements with separate samples for different partials of the sound, all controlled independently allowing for instance smooth degrees of palm muting, blending different overtone harmonics, smoothly changing picking position for super realism. However it's a bitch to control, it was more like programming rather than a creative process so...

Really well explained. I tried to use it (almost) back in the day but, man, so hard.

It's so old that samples of the guitar after an amp are included (besides the usual DI dry samples). Ampsims were very young, ad CPU hungry the best of them. [EDITED: it doesn't have amped samples, just uses some Kontakt effects]

I think the only competitor then was Prominy. With Prominy LPC (also both DI and amped set of samples) and Prominy SC (already only DI samples).

Prominy's libs were also very complete but by "brute force" (sampling a lot of chords), with HUGE ram footprint and number of articulations. They were also very hard to write MIDI for. But at least you knew the articulation was called "5th with whammy bar"

The funny thing is, you need to know how to play guitar well enough to be able to properly program this monster of a library. But if you can play well enough...well... why would you need the library. I'm sure guitar AI stuff will come to rescue soon enough for those who can't play at all, just look at Synth V

I always thought it was only hard for me.

As good as it may sound, the fact that it is difficult to handle and the high CPU usage are considerable discouragements. Consider using the http://impactsoundworks.com/series/shreddage-3-series/ (very efficient and, knowing how to create the desired tone, they are really very efficient!)

I mainly agree but there's a very important difference. You only need the know what to do. Not actually doing it. I mean which zones for this, which strings for that, both things for, say, sweeps and all that stuff.

That's quite something to learn and time consuming but not overwhelming if you put some effort. I myself was able to get pretty decent rhythms and riffs being almost a beginner. I used Prominy V-Metal, for which pretty much I said about Prominy's libs apply.

Of course it took me a looong time to write the midi of a short track and couldn't do things a real guitar can. But nowhere near of learning to play a real guitar.
You're not alone. I feel you bro
You're right. Those are what I use now. The best compromise. I don't remember the CPU usage of electricity but makes sense it's high,

Sadly some Shreddage libs have a bunch of badly sampled notes/articulations on the lower strings. I don't know if badly sampled or a badly prepared sampled guitar since we're talking about 7 (and Hydra 8) string guitars. On some samples you get horrible sound (twang effect? don't really know the term).

Despite its age and lack of updates I believe it's the greatest option for leads. I know this japanese musician that usually likes to use Shreddage or H7S as a rhythm and leaves the E6 Les Paul P90 as the lead

I just wish there was an update adding an 8 strings or something

Shreddage libs are also my go-to guitar libraries alongside Cabal.

I think it is worth watching the following content.

Holy shit. It sounds incredible. The lead is made using Electricity?

Yes, all his work uses it as a lead. I remember him on Twitter saying that he simply messes around with the "Humanize" and "Release" sections of the plugin and doesn't even bother using the default vibratos because "most default vibratos on guitar libraries are crap" so he uses the pitch bend

He had some videos on his profile showing off the piano roll + pitch bend of the guitars but he deleted those. I did save most tho and the only keyswitches he uses are the "slide up" and "slide down" alongside the "release keyswitch + long release" one and "Legato" to do the tapping

The rhythm is just Shreddage 2 on older songs and newer are H7S

I checked out some stuff and it seems one of the guitars in Electricity is a regular Les Paul and another a Les Paul with P90 pickups.
The P90 pickup seems to be a classic but once almost abandoned because high noise compared to humbucker, single coil etc.

But some improved modern P90s have revived it because it has a great tone very roughly sitting between single coil and humbucker. So suited for almost all rock-hard-rock-metal. And for metal especially for leads.
So it makes a lot of sense what this guy does. Using more aggressive Shreddage2/H7S for rhythms.

    I guess I'll give it a try.

It seems like it is worth focusing on H7S.

You can see on the link I posted up above how Shreddage2 sounds aggressively. The guy made a cover of a Slipknot's song, and it sounds so realistic.

I use Shreddage2/3 guitars usually. Sound great. They have palm mutes, power chords and palm muted power chords sampled with a lot of round robins so the best for fast rhythm guitars.

H7S has good reputation but I don't know much about it.

I have that video in my bookmarks ;)
