Is 48 kHz enough to capture? The analog seems to have an unlimited range, it seems to me 96 kHz is the best option.

What about the digital haze in the sound, as in conventional analog VST emulations? The analog always sounds cleaner and works more alive in comparison.

in my opinion, 48k is more than enough to produce sound above the threshold of human hearing and a perfect ratio for 96k oversampling. I wont get involved in the what is right or wrong for pro audio as the debate will go on on and on.... what I will say is that I am more than happy recording and producing at 48k and I have had zero complaints from customers so far who have invested their hard earned money in AnalogX profiles.

I remember people saying nearly the exact same thing about 16 bit 44.1khz. Don't you? 24 bit floating point for all the plugins..

I do, but at the end of the day as a developer we are always going to be judged versus where the bar is raised at its highest. What really matters is having the ability to produce music and not be phased by the techonophbic elements.... what we hear coming out of the speakers is ultimately what we believe.... Personally, I wouldn't bet my house on a blind A/B 16bit 44.1 v's a 48k 24bit mix..... would you?

I wont get into the them vs us scenario, however what I will say is I stand behind what I say, test the AnalogX Neve 5059 profiles against anything you have heard and then lets talk....

nope. same track rendered out of DAW at the two bitrates. Otherwise it proves nothing other than that someone who sells samples of equipment they do not even own can alter a file. That doesn't say anything about anything but your integrity. Don't take it too personal, I don't play poker with people who cheat either.

i get it, I also dont need to prove much, I'm just an old audio guy who stumbled on a an idea that im dedicated to, call it a personal crusade, a crusade against the lies and hurt of 25 years of being sold the analog dream via the vst plugin format, never to be satisfied. I'm sold by the fact that the new tech captures the soul and non linearities of analog and giving it to others at a reduced price that helps keep me sampling daily (50 plus hours per week) , (yes ive bought and tried most AA plugins and the new stuff is cool but there's something else in the new tech that has me hooked. i'm not here to debate or negotiate, i'm bothering because I care. ive invested nearly every penny ive earned with AnalogX back into sampling high end gear simply because I want to capture a portfolio of sampled high end gear primarily for myself, but need funds to sample rare gear and gear I dont own, although I do own plenty of high end hardware. take me at face value or write me off as a crusader, either way i'll continue, why? because I love audio plugins and since AnalogX my GAS has almost dissipated ;-)

    my gear:
    Access Virus
    Roland synths
    Behringer Poly D
    Komplete Keys
    WA 76
    WA EQ-P1
    WA1B
    HCl Velvet
    Tegeler Vari Tube Channel
    Retro 176
    Silver Bullet MK1
    Culture Vulture Mastering Edition
    Push 2
    Prism Lyra Converters
    Adam A77X Monitors
    Fully treated studio
    Yamaha RM1X
    Yamaha A3000 Sampler
Many Mics including UAD DLX, Telefunken, WA mics

    etc etc

    too many software to mention

Speaking of 96 kHz, I approached it from the side of more accurate equipment capture and avoiding digital artifacts in the audible area. It would be worth testing... Or maybe you've already done it.

But, 24 bit is exactly what you need to follow

96k testing starts soon as work has started on an AnalogX plugin, so watch this space. Profile loader for pro audio work.
