Did anyone solve an anxiety issue with a psychologist?

Yes, my wife have solved or tamed down a lot of her issues using practical approachs like the one I've described. She couldn't sleep for years out of anxiety. If she had to drive a car in the morning, she just stays all night awake with anxiety, and then she drove the car anyway cause she had to go to a business meeting or something, endangering her life and others in the process. Now she sleeps with a little fan right next to her head, one part of her brain is busy processing the white noise signal stimulae and that allow her not to think and to go sleep faster.

Sometimes you don't have any trauma to heal or overcome, or any problem, just a different brain chemistry that comes with your genetics that can incline you towards anxiety. So talking things out is rather pointless in some cases.

It will depend on the type and intensity of your anxiety attacks. Just yesterday, talking to my wife (she is a psychologist), she mentioned that her niece (that is a lawyer and is dealing with stress due to multiple legal processes handled by her) will take anxiety medication prescribed by a psychiatrist for 1 month and undergo psychological counseling for 4 months with a professional. So, each case is different.

Sometimes medication alone solves the problem (very rarely). In other disorders (more commonly), it is combined treatment (medication to stabilize brain chemistry and therapies that help identify and modify dysfunctional behaviors).

If you have no idea, consult a general practitioner, talk about the problem and the recommendation will come. If you already have some guidance, look for a psychologist (he/she will be able to assess the need to see a psychiatrist) and, if necessary, a psychiatrist (remembering that medications are just crutches that should help you in acute crises, as you should avoid using crutches your entire life, unless it is absolutely necessary!).

once i've tried to solve my problems (not anxiety) by going to a really expensive psychologist.
The same psychologist that helped a friend of mine from stop using drugs.
It didn't do any good for me, but it did to my friend.
Like people said above me, each case is different.

in my specific case it really felt pointless to talking to a psychologist. a waste of time and money, and really frustrating too.
But in the end she actually helped me by referring a neurologist.

At one point in my life, I experienced severe anxiety stemming from compromised health, which subsequently led to depression. Over the course of two years, I sought help from 11 therapists, investing a considerable amount of money, hope, and persistence into each endeavor. However, the solution always seemed to circle back to medication. While 2-3 of the therapists were reputable, one even holding the position of director at a mental health hospital, they all prescribed similar medications, with no avail. Some even introduced unconventional additions to the treatment plan, such as anti-Parkinson's and epilepsy drugs. While there may be skilled therapists out there, I have yet to be fortunate enough to encounter one.

do you mean as a cause or as a solution to anxiety?

Dealing with the human mind (psychology) is perhaps the most subjective, complex and less well-paid experience than it should be (due to the responsibility for human lives).

Some considerations (extracted from an article written by my wife):

    1) Health cannot be identified with an invariable state of normality, as at an individual level it is a process with manifestations specific to each psyche.

    2) Health is not an "average", it is a functional integration that at an individual level is achieved through multiple and diverse alternatives.

    3) Health is not a static state of the organism, it is a process that develops and is conquered, where the individual actively and consciously participates as a subject of the process.

    4) In health, genetic, congenital, somato-functional and psychological factors are closely combined. Health is a multi-determined expression and its course is not decided solely by the active participation of a human being unilaterally.

    5) The symptomatological expression of the disease is the result of a process that precedes the emergence of symptoms. Illness, like health, is a process that is qualitatively defined before the appearance of symptoms, which are nothing more than a moment in the development of a disease. Thus, it is understood that its integral and complete characteristic is absolutely irreducible to single formulas applicable to all individuals faced with similar diseases. Health is not the absence of symptoms, but an integral process that optimizes the body's resources to reduce its vulnerability to the different agents and processes that cause disease. Any notion of Health must highlight multi-determined, unique and complex characteristics.

You are putting up a lot of barriers and coming up with a lot of reasons why talking to a therapist wouldn't work for you. I get that you don't understand how a therapist might help you relieve anxiety, but maybe the whole point of seeing a professional might be that they know things you don't.

Hard mental work means gaining insight into what causes your anxiety and what you might be doing to aggravate it. If you're not willing to give it a try then maybe it's not for you, or maybe it's not yet for you. You are not obliged to go to a therapist, just as the therapist is not obliged to convince you of the benefits of therapy.

Easy. A girl was denied personal space by emotionally abusive parents in childhood - grew up without sense of self, tried to both escape parental control (actually abuse) and compensate for not feeling her own coherent self. Became, politely speaking, easily accessible and promiscuous, then went into porn business.
Hated every second of it, hated physical contact with men, hated herself, and sumultaneously could not admit it cause she hated the very notion of self-control even more, because it associated with abuse she experienced and in a paradoxical way lack of any actual control gave her a sense of control over her life, even tho nothing has really changed and she still hurted. All because of abuse in childhood.
An easier example - guy had anxiety attacks everytime he saw a bright green paint, and never knew why. Turns out he got hit-and-run by a green car during childhood and this experience was so traumatic his brain displaced every memory of this happening - but kept reacting to the green paint as to danger.
Do you know why you're anxious regardless? There is always some reason behind how we feel. You can't treat that reason without knowing it - and the therapist is supposed to help you both find the reason and overcome it.
Is this your idea of psychotherapy LOL?

if thats my idea of psychotherapy, its because as you see from all comments here, noone says he got healed from it

    so how is this possible?

i don't believe in each person having to go through that...to find out if its for them. I actually find this to be a very bad thing to do. Why torture people on their past if it doesn't work.

i want statistics, results. How many got healed? and how?

why isn't there anyone here saying i got healed from talking to a psychotherapist, why is it so hard? if its hard, do we need to keep taking people down that route? to heal how many? out of how many?

As each indivudual and each issue is unique, there is no specific answer that would mean anything :)
But I can say that one of my main problems is/was a catastrophically bad self-image, and some very useful insights from the therapist helped me to go "Aha...." and it certainly helped!

Anxiety is a very big equation and psychologists can not solve it.

To change or to solve, you need to participate in the process, it is not talking as an automata, it is open yourself to comunication, to explore and dive on the deep of yourself, with the gidance of a professional. But the work is yours, the psychologist can not walk on your shoes, only by your side.

Drinking alcohol is the solution to everything.
It certainly won't give you any answers but it will make you forget what the question was
