    My first impression of the new browser (for plugins) wasn't that great. My plugins are stored in specific folders (Effects\EQ, Effects\Phaser, Instruments\Synth etc) and Ableton ignore this.

    So I decided to live with it, and tag my plugins depending on what they are. I'm slightly happier, but there's still too much noise. Then it hit me, I have too many plugins and a lot I don't use

    I have since uninstalled, purged, removed and killed with fire. I have removed 60% of my plugins and I'm happy.

    Ableton has taught me that I'm a hoarder, a collector of things I don't need, a plugin Pacman.

    Edit: Revo earnt its stripes today

    Yeah, I kinda hear you on this. I just got a new machine, and it's not going to support a LOT of the thousands of plugins and whatnot I had on my old work system due to MacOS upgrades and whatnot.... and so I just decided to bite the bullet, and just slowly install that which I know I use, or when I think of them (if they still exist etc), or find new ways...

    I definitely have been a plugin hoarder for a loooong time, and hey, a lot of them I had to keep around as needed for legacy projects etc, but I put my older work machines "on ice" and are stuck in time for what they are, and if need be, I can always boot those up and access that material and plugins and just bounce it over as audio or whatnot....

    I'm definitely trying to 'try' and do with less. (but I know the GAS will kick in at some point...

    On my part the new browser has made rediscover a lot of plugins that I've installed and forgotten over the years. Still sucks hard, specially because LiveEnhancementSuite no longer works flawelessly. I don't "need" them, I just "have" them. Uhhh, who the fuck is this "XXXXX" creator? what do they have? some verb? a pointless channel strip? :rofl:

    Christ, no kidding. I had been using the same system for way too long, and how many damn "channel strips" that were all the vogue in the 2010's that I used once or twice never to be used again... Or every damn Waves plugin (install ALL!)... hell no, not now. I kinda know what I actually do need and what is actually decent, and while I was helping HEXWARS test stuff back in the day, I haven't even booted up my old systems yet to see how many plugins I had, but it was multiple thousands.

    Didn't need them.

    But since my OS was stuck at a certain point in time, and the fact I took some time off, I also missed out on a lot of the new tools that either I couldn't run with my system, or I simply overlooked as was somewhat purposely not paying attention to what was going on...

    So now doing a little more due diligence, I realize I don't need NI Komplete Ultimate, as hell, I mainly just used Kontakt, and perhaps a smattering of their other tools here and there...

    So going to try and be more streamlined... although I know I'm gonna still frack that up...

    Yeah, option paralysis is a thing. It's a good idea to only keep the tools you need and get the rest out of the information field.
    Having said that:
    I HAVE1252 AUs INSTALLED!!1KILLME
    I use maybe 10-20 tops.

    Don't get me started on Komplete, when I first installed Native Access I downloaded everything thinking each selection would be useful. I ended up barely using anything (Traktor Pro, Massive and Kontakt occasionally)

    Oddly enough, after finally feeling like I know what I’m doing I’ve found myself loading more and more plugins and actually using them.

    It's taught me that the new browser is a hot mess and makes having a very large plugin collection unwieldy. Thats a step backwards in my opinion. It's just not a great design.

    I only have Ableton 11 but I occasionally do a clean up of plugins. But even after a clean up I only use about 20% of my plugins

    This is a deal breaker for me. LiveEnhancementSuite will be not moved into ableton 12. I've realied on that little tool too many years. It should be a native thing: contextual right click menu access and pluging dropping is the most efficient way to work I've found. And because you had to manual create your own menus, was really great to deal with the option paralysis, and for impossing artificial creative limits. I hope someone will fork this into 12.

    Hey,
    If you look in the ahk file for the line that reads "Send,{down}{enter}" and replace this with:

    Send,{down}
    sleep, 112
    Send,{enter}

    This fixes LEH for v12

    Cheers

    Yeah, I just went over to the NI site to see what was still compatible or whatnot with my new system, and outside of Kontakt, perhaps Guitar Rig (but not on guitar ironically), and perhaps one or two others.... I just don't see the need for their compressors and distortions and delays, all for which I have plugs that I prefer over theirs...

    And I've been burned so many times before with their hardware being discontinued, from the various "Kores", to allegedly class compliant audio interfaces, to Maschine 1, (still have that and Maschine 2, which I don't even think will work with my new system, but whatever) etc...

    And it looks like they are kinda deprecating what Izotope was with that aquisition....

    I'm just kinda over them... I know I will use Kontakt, and have so so so many libraries for that, it's just gonna take a long time to port them over to K7 from K5.62 or whatnot....

    Yeah, I haven't even gotten to that yet, and I read some good ideas from some people like @Arcticstorm and whatnot here about how to spend a little time and get it up to speed and whatever... and I have only just started a clean install, and yes, I haven't done all my homework yet, but coming from Live 9/10 (hell, I've used it since V1 honestly when it didn't even have midi), and it's a different animal that I will have to wrap my head around...

    Just out of curiosity:
    I think I found a bug in Live 11 a few days ago and would like to know if it's still in 12. I have deleted 12 from the PC and can'r run it on my old mac, but I am curious if they still have it in the current version.
    Open "Second Window" on a single screen, go fullscreen, tile it, save as template, press ENTER for the name prompt and Live 11 will quit (macos catalina with 11.3.20something).

    I dont know why everone hate this browser.... VST3 had Vendor Name...only Vst2 not....and the similary search for big Libarys is very nice...sure it needs time to scan...but when finished its good so far......when it never finished you have bad files in the Libary...i had some but look in pref Folder and can see by what files it hangs

    convert folders to tags and the world should be okay.

    ofc we are all some kind of hoarders - i have lots of plugins unpacked on HDDs, if i need something i will install it - i never install plugins just to try them out and then never use them.
    If i installed them and i can see no use, i deinstall them ...

    therefore my plugin folder is quite small and only has essential plugins in it, which are unique in workflow and features. I dont have 100 compressors or EQs.

    therefore i was through tagging all 3rd party plugins in 45mins and it felt very satisfying for me and somewhat really tidied up in the end.

    i hope somebody in the wide realm of the internet will pick it up and modifies it to make it working for Live 12.

    here is LEH for someone for Live 12: https://github.com/jastro-dev/LiveEnhancementSuite-Live12/releases
    not sure if it works, didnt test it.

    Simple fix:

    If you look in the ahk file for the line that reads "Send,{down}{enter}" and replace this with:

    Send,{down}
    sleep, 112
    Send,{enter}

    This fixes LEH for v12
