Weirdly, I watched Seth Rogen's TMNT and the OST is done by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross. NIN did a Ninja Turtles soundtrack

I don't speak japanese, but i find some of their anime and film soundtracks to be very insteresting musically.
The soundtrack for Samurai Champloo is legendary.
The real folk blues, while not a blues, could be a Nelson Riddle soundtrack for any detective movie from the early 1960's or late 1950's

    "AI Prompt Engineering Is Dead"
    IEEE Spectrum. 06 Mar 2024

It may be that the new career of Prompt Engineering days may be numbered too, maybe including a lot of creatives (they show an image example).

"However, new research suggests that prompt engineering is best done by the model itself, and not by a human engineer. This has cast doubt on prompt engineering’s future—and increased suspicions that a fair portion of prompt-engineering jobs may be a passing fad, at least as the field is currently imagined."

“Now we have this full machinery, the full loop that’s completed with this reinforcement learning.… This is why we are able to outperform human prompt engineering.”

“Maybe we’re calling them prompt engineers today,” Lal says, “But I think the nature of that interaction will just keep on changing as AI models also keep changing.”

"Henley says that, to some extent in this early phase of the field, the only overriding rule seems to be the absence of rules. “It’s kind of the Wild, Wild West for this right now.” he says."

No, LOL, but they wanted me to write their copy and I turned them down (not really, but I did give the finger to McDonalds when asked to do so for Ronald McDonald House because their shit food causes the cancer that they put in the money to proffer therapies).

i fear the job obituary pages will far outnumber all other news in the coming years.

If you have the time there is a youtube channel that has a program that talks about AI so far, and while its fine tuned for mid-wits. I find the "hecklefish" gimmick, much more annoying than funny, for instance. It does provide an interesting longform (40 ish minutes) overview of many topics.

he confirms many of my observations in this regard, so maybe its just confirmation bias on my part. but I found this interesting. - feel free to skip ahead to about 8 minutes in when the real story begins to be told, the intro and in segment commercial, and comic interaction with the fish is just the hook to pull the views and pay the bills...

why would anyone pay for people not to work, if they could merely pay them to fight with each other til they are no more. It will keep the unemployed masses entertained until they perish.

and heres a very real example of AI disruption having financial impact in the creative arts.

Tyler Perry, a movie and tv producer, has put on hold (soon to be cancelled entirely) expansion plans

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter published Thursday, filmmaker Tyler Perry spoke about his concerns related to the impact of AI video synthesis on entertainment industry jobs. In particular, he revealed that he has suspended a planned $800 million expansion of his production studio after seeing what OpenAI's recently announced AI video generator Sora can do.

Rolling Stone has a piece on Suno.ai, including brief interviews with the 2 co-founders and an investor. It's an interesting read, with their justification of why they are doing it. The author sent the song below to Vernon Reid, guitarist for Living Color. His response:

He notes his “wonder, shock, horror” at the song’s “disturbing verisimilitude.” “The long-running dystopian ideal of separating difficult, messy, undesirable, and despised humanity from its creative output is at hand,” he writes, pointing out the problematic nature of an AI singing the blues, “an African American idiom, deeply tied to historical human trauma, and enslavement.”

With the Prompt "solo acoustic Mississippi Delta blues about a sad AI", Suno V3 created this:

Good thought, though you were too tame in your assessment of one of the most blood thirsty, morally decrepit and evil humans that I have witnessed in my lifetime. You did fall short however on the idea of his having no grasp on reality though, his particular brand of manifestation led to the real suffering under torture, death and misery to millions of people. He died on June 29th three years ago thank goodness. The only consolation...if there is a hell he is that he'd be suffering miserably to within an inch of his own pain threshold forever and ever to make up for the pain that he inflicted upon humanity. If that could be I'd quote him on his own fate..."Stuff happens".

Now back to our regularly scheduled programing and the conversation of music.

Good track!. Lately I've been dealing with Suno.ai a lot and I have to say that every now and then it gets it right and comes up with a decent song. My personal statistic is that I have to tweak the script at least 30 times before I get (roughly) what I'm looking for. I don't understand why Suno has such low quality in the files

The Rolling Stone article says they tried twice with "decent" results, but the third time, adding the word "Mississippi" to the prompt is what created the final song.
