It is getting a nice world lately wankers. With the excuse of porn and childs. They are gonna control internet, because all we'll have to identify to access. Like always this forms of control, ends not so well. More clandestinity, more p2p, more violence on videos, more illegal sites with uncontrolled content. Child will access the same, privacy would be stolen.
This is like putting a door on the middle of nowhere, and force everyone to go that door, previous identification.
To know if YOU are more than 18+, they need to know WHO are you.

 

I've a child, I don't want him exposed to pissing on assholes wheels at his current age. I think overexposing kids to porn will make, in some cases, adults with weird behaviors towards woman that will have to unlearn some things in order to be functional adults capable of having healthy relationships. I take measures so he can't see those things on my watch. But age verification is to take my data, not my kids data. So is not to protect my kid is to know who I'm and which are my kinks, which is a big no.

If the age verification that are implementing is anonymous, then we have that already on Europe, not a big deal. If the age verification requires an ID from my part. That's a fucking big red line.

 

I haven't seen any porn sites with age verification other than "do you SWEAR you're over 18? for real dawg?" and I'm not sure it's confined to Europe.

I think they're underestimating the resourcefulness of horny teenagers.

They'll just buy & share PH accounts, use VPNs, torrents, cloud storage or one click hosts. And if they can't, they'll just trade USB sticks at parties or ask their 'cool' uncle to download stuff for them. Nobody in the past 40 years has managed to stop teenage boys from getting their porn.

Your job as a parent isn't to make sure your kids can never! ever! access porn, immoral content, fake news or violence because you will inevitably fail (that doesn't mean you shouldn't make a reasonable, ie. non-draconian, effort). Your job is to raise kids that can appropriately deal with what they're looking at. Maybe try telling them that 99.95% of the stuff on PH isn't the David Attenborough factual documentary on sex.

But that takes time and effort, aka parenting. And many parents fucking hate parenting. They wish they could just dump the responsibility of raising decent kids on teachers, the government or fucking McAffee Internet Security 2025.

It's boggles my mind (as an old fart) how we ended up with a generation that is often more conservative than my grandparents.

 

My understanding is that different US states have different verification requirements. I believe PH has blocked access from some of those states because it doesn't want to (or can't) implement those requirements.

 

i disagree with you. i don't think the protection is for teenagers, and i think you should make sure your kids don't visit porn sites at home.
i'm a full grown man and even i sometimes get shocked by the stuff you can find in those sites, theres no fucking limits. Some videos i do believe they may scar you for life if you're just a kid, one thing is to see a picture/video of a naked woman, another completely different thing is those hardcore videos. just use a blocker on your computer or whatever, but i certainly wouldn't recommend a 5 year old kid watching hardcore porn at home everyday just because the parents are ok with it.

Teenagers will look at messed up things, no way around it. Your job as a parent is to make sure it doesn't turn into an addiction / mental illness / seriously warped interpretation of reality.

You can't clap your 16 year old in irons and spend every waking second controlling their every action or you will damage them beyond any repair.

Unless you have a deviant 5-10 year old they aren't interested in watching pron of any kind much less hardcore porn. I remember being that age and an older cousin trying to show me some regular old 80s porn on VHS and I was like cool, am going back downstairs to play with robots and GI Joe figurines.

If you have a deviant 5-10 year old, they aren't only going to find a way to watch donkey pron, they are going to be in it. Deal with it, when they do it is going to be your fault because you would rather watch NASCAR, Honey Booboo, figure out how you can live out your Savonarola fantasy at the next book burning and play on Troof Social than actually raise your kids.

This shit will do nothing to stop a 13-17 year old from getting access to porn. Porn was hard to get in Virginia in the late 80s and 90s, I still managed to have a stack of Hustlers, bootleg VHS tapes, and I even got myself age verified using someone else ID without their knowledge and through a phone call to one of the first porn BBS on 56K dial up. Honestly between 16-18 I was able to get all the porn I needed 4-6 times a day while I had a girlfriend who was DTF at least 2X a day when we could find a spot and it still wasn't enough.

Your experience might be different, but then some of us are more exceptional than others.

This might stop the dumb kids from getting access to porn, so they'll just get fentanyl and liquor instead, just like daddy and mommy did.

Couple of things :

1- This has nothing to do with protecting the children. It's about control, and only the beginning of it. I don't wanna get overtly political, as @No Avenger asked us not to, but I think the danger is too big to consider it a partisan issue. Florida wants to pass laws (maybe the already did) that would punish child sexual abuse by death, and extend the definition of abuse to "a trans person being visible to children in public".

So yeah, this has nothing to do with protection.

2- @JMOUTTON makes a valid point about deviant kids being motivated enough to find those things no matter what, but I think he misses one crucial point : "ordinary" kids have access to these things in a way older generations can't fathom.

He talks about being a teen in the late 80s-early 90s. Finding porn as a kid-teen back in those days was infinitely harder than, say, early 00s where you could just type "sex" on your p2p software (emule was quite good for this lol). Then in the late 00s and early 10s porn tube sites EXPLODED, and as someone who had started with VCDs and p2p in the early 00s let me say that it was a quantum leap.

And yet half of the vids you could find on tubes back then were uploads of older stuff. The concept of amateur stars was barely starting to emerge. Today? You have people live streaming 24/7 from anywhere in the world, and they use every single loophole in social media sites so one click to enter that world is enough to get you hooked for years to come. And I don't even wanna imagine what goes on in whatsapp groups, discord servers etc.

There was this dumb thing that happened few years ago, when professional annoyer/youtube guitaris StevieT made a "joke" about something something, and he mentioned an adult entertainer by name. She was no porn actress, to my recollection, just a stripper or something, but her videos are still pretty pornographic.

StevieT's main audience are young kids. Pre-teen kids make up a sizeable amount of them.

So after he mentioned that woman, her videos on various porn sites were bombarded by comments saying "StevieT sent me here lol".
It would be naive to think that those commenting were the only adults in his audience.

And this is JUST one example of how easy it is for very young kids to be exposed to this kind of thing. The incentive of looking for porn wasn't even theirs. Their favorite youtuber mentioned her name in a wink wink innuendo kinda way, and that was it.

I'm not even gonna start with the pipeline that leads young kids to palces like 4chan, and every imaginable depravity being openly accessible there.

My point is, while I agree that nothing can stop a horny teen to look for porn, the part that scares me is how porn can easily find them.

I can't prove it, but I strongly believe there's a direct correlation between that and radicalization of young boys (among, of course, many other factors).
Girls too, by the way, are evolving from being exposed to all this shit. Where you'd have only a dozen of ladies known for partaking in some extreme bizarre stuff, it seems like more and more young girls are going 10 times harder at it by themselves.

that's why i think is the parents job to make sure their kid doesnt have access to porn at home. outside home we cant help it, but at home you can always use a blocker or any other software.
