Do you think it is possible to convert library wav files into flac (to store them on a hard drive taking up less space)? Once converted back to wav will they be usable (no loss of audio data)?

 

99% of my IRs are FLAC. If your IR loader supports FLAC, you're good. As long as the WAV you're converting is 16 or 24 bit, the conversion is perfectly lossless. 32 bit integer WAV conversion is lossless too, but that's a fairly recent change, so I suspect most IR loaders do not yet support 32b-int FLACs. 32 bit float conversion is lossy at this point (but that may not matter much - I do not know how 'loud' the added distortion is, but I believe it should be -150db or less)

 

Since flac is a lossless format, there's no problem with converting 16 or 24bit wav to flac and back.
