Humans are inclined to avoid the loss of opportunities more than they enjoy gaining benefits. Consequently, individuals are driven to acquire something merely to avert the potential "loss" of missing out. Even if an item appears useless at present, it might hold future utility that hasn't been recognized yet.
Someone may acquire a free item with the intention of reselling, gifting, or using it in a trade scenario. Even if they personally have no use for it, they may perceive its potential value to others.
In a world where free things are often seen as scarce, people might grab them simply because everyone else is doing it.

No, I won't delete. Sometimes, just sometimes, there's the one track that needs something else. Something you normally don't use...and when I say sometimes, it's an under statement. It happens more than you realize. I keep all the plugins where they are. Sometimes...you need one that your normally don't use.

Because the modern current versions of the emulations created by programmers get better. It can still emulate the same thing.

this topic makes me want to write a virus that deletes 80% of everyone's plugins, with emphasis on those most used, and prevents their reinstallation

Was that the one where 20% of your plugins were taking up 80% of the hard disk they were on?
