Lots of AI features in it. Not sure if it's a real innovation or the usual marketing gimmick. There is a 3 week demo on the site (I haven't had the chance to try it yet). Has anyone already tried it?

I think it will be "worth it" to know how to use, and using it in conjunction with the DAW you are already using.

I remember seeing the RipX yt videos when they first put out the ripper, and thinking it was going to be BS. And it turns out, I was almost completely wrong. It does exactly what they said, about a problem which had existed for many years for people doing unauthorized remixes. For djs who maybe want a "special copy" of something to play, but it's also a tool which could be used to rip off other peoples music. "Legit uses" for it are not so easy to come up with.

So when they claim they have an innovative new DAW, I believe them. If it was priced like Reaper, or "free", I will definitely check it out. RipX was originally quite expensive, like $200+. That's not going to happen with this one either. The marketing video posted above, doesn't really show anything about it; so I watched another one (below). The reviewer says he likes how it is similar to Melodyne. That's not going to sell me on it, because I really dislike Melodyne and use it as infrequently as possible.

 

Ok, interesting: so it's not exactly a DAW, but should be considered more of a mastering/restore app, I'll try it soon.
I will not watch your attached video. I don't follow any audio YouTube influencers: they're all payola. Ok, maybe not all of them, but even the mere suspicion that they might be makes me lose the desire to watch them. I think your review is worth much more than that of any corrupt superstar

 

Just got it from the sister site to try the stems separation cleanup thingy

 

What a POS don’t waste your money especially if you’re doing it for audio to midi conversion.
It gives you like a million notes which are wrong. Completely unusable for that task. What people use it for is anyone’s guess.

For audio to midi, a program called SampLab works better.

 

the separation (and being able to edit the individual tracks before export) is the main feature. there may be models that do things better, but this is really good already

I don't know, admittedly I haven't done a lot with it yet as have been too busy with other aspects, but I have to say it's separation is pretty good... not so much for isolating guitars or synths, but the drum/vocal/bass has been pretty amazing to me.

I just tested it by tossing some Nirvana, Tom Petty, Led Zeppelin (Four Sticks), the Police, a pretty middle of the road bunch of "rock" standards, and I was pretty damn impressed when I could solo Bonham, toss is just Robert Plant, same with Nirvana's "In Bloom", or whatnot...

(obviously it is going to work better with wav's or other lossless formats then it is with mp3's etc as those algorithms operate with dealing with masked frequencies and whatnot).

I doubt it would be great at something like My Bloody Valentine, Sigur ros, or nine inch nails, but haven't tried it yet...

I wouldn't use it as a Melodyne replacement myself lol, and I agree with @clone on that..(as I also HATE using Melodyne, but that's because it's like chewing sand and a job I don't like to do more pretty much more then anything, in say, tuning vocals etc... then Melodyne's inability to "do so" historically for me... I just HATE doing it lol)....

I haven't watched the video provided, but I have used it more in my short time with it as a tech demo or learning tool, and I haven't stressed it yet with trying to extract midi and seeing how accurate/inaccurate noise that is..

but there are some songs that I have tossed at it from my youth that are pretty good at understanding what the singer was actually singing (replacements) etc... or hearing things in songs I have listened to 20,000 times kinda thing that I didn't know were there...

So I think looking at it from the perspective of not only a musician/songwriter/producer, I'm just at the point where I am enjoying it as a "fan" of music... but I wouldn't think of it myself as a "daw" so much for me at this point... it's just a provocative tool that I have found entertaining or educational so far at least,

and in that sense enjoyable.

But other then ripping other peoples work, I have briefly tried some "restorative" work with it (separating background noise/crowd etc), and it was quite quick and competent at it, and it's been awhile since I had to really pull my sleeves up with Izotope's RX etc for some film work, but I could it see it being a quick and easy way to help on some of that... (but again, I haven't seen how much RX has improved in the last 5-10 years myself)...
