long yes, and agreeing with your comment; but only a portion of the time. In the situation OP describes it's usually 100% directed at you. That is the polar opposite of the point you were making. They could even both be true at the same time.

anywho, if you like the Dada Life plugin appearances; another "developer" to check out is Curtiss King. I have no idea who coded them. Silly, but also very nice.

the point is, its just a projection that reflects them. even if its projected towards you, that action is rooted to serve them in some way, its not about you. when you take it personally and think it is, thats when it becomes an issue for you

Absolutely, my point was just that it's two sides of the same coin. Instead of plugins, you can often see the same happen when people ask for feedback on their projects. Most people will just offer constructive advice. But sometimes there will be "that guy" who has to just absolutely tear into every tiny meaningless little complaint. Maybe that is a bit more cut and dried. You have to consider the source, but even though they are being mean spirited or whatever; that does not necessarily negate any truth to it. I was going to comment that a little self-doubt never killed anyone. Actually, it has. Bad choice of expressions.

As the legendary German racing driver Walter Röhrl is attributed to have said:

Only losers are always obsessed with winning.
The best this, the best that, and if it's not good enough for them then it must suck, of course.

I use SF for the LOLs even though it rarely makes it to a final mix.

Sausage Fattener's graphics are humorous in a good way, as is Delay Lama. Both do the job they were intended to do. I absolutely draw the line at that LOL comp though, that's just plain bad taste.

Also is not so bad to disagree (with respect). The Tenth Man strategy essentially says that if nine people agree on a particular course, the tenth person must, in the context of this strategy, take a contrary approach so that all alternatives can be considered. Or The Devils Advocate too. This is about critical thinking.

There's reasonable critique, and then there's purely adversarial contrarianism.

So dear fellow critical thinker, what is your null hypothesis regarding Sausage Fattener...? :)

I think it is helpful to be clear in terminology and to try to get the logic right so that the implications are closer to reality.
The first thing is to be clear in what we are talking about.
If we are talking about judging: Everyone judges everything to varying degrees and in different ways.
    Even "primitive" life forms "judge".
It does not take a prefrontal cortex to judge.
While the prefrontal cortex can assist in making complex judgments, it can also cause all kinds of errors in judgment.
Even single-cell lifeforms pass judgment on external environments and other life they encounter.
To respond in any way to anything outside of oneself is to have made a judgment.
To move towards or away from, to recoil or to engage. To eat or to flee...
None of those things can be done without having passed a judgment, and MOST judgments are kept well away from the prefrontal cortex and out risky intellect and predictive imagination.
So, to "judge not" is to be dead.

On a more intellectual level, to assume one can avoid judging others is foolish and sometimes even dangerous.
It might just increase the likelihood one will judge without awareness or may be willfully ignoring that fact.
Better to admit and be on guard.
We WILL judge and all we can do is attempt to judge fairly and wisely.

Regarding Sausage Fattener specifically, it doesn't let you control any of what it's doing, but if you know what it does and when to use it, there's nothing wrong with it.

Regarding people hating SF, it's because using it lead to better results than their "proper" ways, hurting their sense of ego. In a good environment, that would lead to developing your skills further, but when was humanity ever a good environment.

Regarding the question in general, I can point to two causes:

The first one is what happened with Sausage Fattener. People with ego (aka most of y'all and me too, whether I like it or not) need to reaffirm their worth extrinsically. Most people resort to comparing themselves to others before giving it a conscious thought. A huge problem for humanity, actually. We'd be in a way better place if humans in general could stop once in a while and ask themselves "What the fcuk am I doing right now and why?"

The second reason is specific to certain kinds of neurodivergence. I will speak for myself here.
Whenever I see a person that is wrong and insists on their "opinion", it fractures my sense of reality, pulls the ground from under me and sends me spiraling into a meltdown. Because intuitively this should not happen and thus I feel the same way you, my dear neurotypical reader, would feel during a very wrong nightmare.
I don't have nightmares tho LOL

this caught my eye. something always bothered me with the whole, judging a thing or person, and the 'think you know better', 'better than me' accusations. it's that yeah, sometimes others DO know better than you about something, and yeah, there's always others that ARE better than you, perhaps simply as a decent human being as well as in any other aspect, like talent, intelligence, skillsets, etc etc etc.

once debating with my bro-inlaw, who's the best and i love, about how and why people believe the things they do despite all evidence to the contrary. i said something, more or less to the effect that, despite wanting to believe differently, two plus two always equal four. he replies, 'sometimes 2+2=5'. now what i'm supposed to do with that. he is a republican though, who voted for trump, which pretty much explains it. lol.

Because everything obvious has already been mentioned, and I agree with most, I always like to take a look at our human evolution and wonder if it has anything to do with the evolution of language thanks to gossiping, forming social groups to stand strong together and fight against enemies who are different.

I think it's often an ego thing, where you want to prove to others (or essentially: to yourself) that you are more knowledgable about a specific subject (eg audio production) than the other. Especially when this one subject is a very important pillar of your self-image / identity (as in: "I'm that guy who is very knowledgable about audio engineering and music production").

Some people have the predisposition to act this way, others don't need this type of ego-boost.

I think what ultimately matters is that you use the tools that serve your purpose and stay creative, regardless of arguments others try to make with you about your tools.

We all have opinions. It's just that there are a few who are obsessed with letting others know it is only theirs that matter,

Differences of opinion though, if used constructively can be a great help!

Why do people judge others and care so much?

Excluding legitimate scenario's that're resolved in courts... Why do people judge? Mostly we are arrogant morons who want to display our plumage once our own teachers, tutors & mentors are not present.
And why do they care so much? If we've nothing invested, we almost never really care at all - plumage, remember.
Instead of criticising someone's methods we should query them instead. Assuming they explain their method to us and, for example, we're familiar with perhaps a more suitable technique we should ask if they know of it and if not, suggest it. Now we've neither judged and displayed enthusiasm instead of feathers ;)

I just pointed out this, anwering the OP question. Ok, there is adversarial contrarianism too, all has his extrems.

My hypothesis on this is, I never used this plugin, so no opinnion. :chilling:

How Y'all pointing out, mind is allways judging, tagging, but judging can start a meltdown.:grooves: If you say something in possitive ways, ok, we can talk about it. But the lines are so blurred + the fu***g ego + cultural differences + missunderstanding
