hi,i own v station,but just noticed in cubase its in the list but not loading.
reinstalled it now need license,the web link to get activated is no longer operational.
how on earth can i get this working now?

 

The only way to use it is with the license, but if the page does not work, you have to resort to using the R2R version.
The same thing as you has happened to other users.

 

i checked on SS the R2R seem to be down,are they?

 

A fine example of how piracy keeps older software working, while the companies that produce it don't care. In a way, pirates care about their customers more than they do.

I've just went through an AS post when it went free in 2022. Shame you didn't save the license file, as you could use it to activate it offline. Do you maybe have it? It could be somewhere in the user/appdata/novation or similar folders. I think the extension is .lic but i'm not sure.

i actually have hardware k station.got it new shortly after it was released.
didnt use much,but my luck was that the backlight went on display.
u culdnt make it up!

 

I have had excellent experience with Novation support. I think you should contact them if you haven’t already.

 

i have gotten the 2 novation synth plugins for free about 2 or 3 times included with something I bought. (bass station 2 and old focusrite interface bundled software) And probably k'd versions also over the years. I have never had anything but an authorization loop with them every time on Mac. Eventually, they get more annoying than Analog Lab, opening up authorization window without even loading the plugin into the project. I've given up and don't care. It isn't something I put up with from a plugin anymore. It's off to the circular file.

 

Maybe if we keep pinging Novation support to get the auth server back up, they might do so. Or maybe not.

There are so many replacement options available now, you have to be heartless deleting things at the first sign of trouble. Do you know how many times I have been working on a track, and said to myself "what this really needs is some novation sounds" since deleting them? Of course it is zero. In the "evolution of your sound", things like this can work as natural selection.

 

This is just projecting your own use-case onto others. Actual use cases may be trying to load an old project with that specific sound. Or using mostly free software on old hardware, where the excellent CPU efficiency of V-station comes into play. Few comparable synths are as efficient, except perhaps Sylenth and Apricot. Vital, Surge, Pneuma etc. use far more CPU. And the skin update for V-station from KVR forums makes it useable again on modern screens.

(Incidentally, Apricot is the synth I'd suggest to replace it, but it needs a CLAP-VST wrapper in some DAWs)

 

Unless you are running a Mac, I am not projecting anything. But I did not find those synths all that great to begin with, and they were troublesome. That "old projects" thing has grown very stale. As such, getting away from a discontinued product is really your best move. No-one cares some track uses "rare plugins now they are obsolete". They make ok hardware and their foray into plugin development was about as good as Waldorf's. Mediocre.
