Tuned one of my guitars up to f# sharp today. Interesting sound. more bluesy/jazzy. Think I might leave it there for a couple months. its inspiring ..
also builds the fingers up a little bit..

Jk i have one tuned to open G for slide stuff. Is this F# tuning of yours same as E but higher or does it have weird intervals?

its a full step higher than standard E tuning, so 2 frets higher. String tension is higher, but I wanted to see how the neck would handle it. Its just interesting play runs and melodies, I was surprised I didn't really have any problems with the patterns cause the full step means its all the same as playing 2 frets higher on the neck.

I read up a bit after I did it. the general opinion is for higher tuning use thinner strings to keep the tension lower. so I'll probably try that soon. Just put these strings on and want to get a feel for them I don't usually play heavier gauge strings, but you know testing my boundaries...

GHS 11-50's on it now, after a couple weeks I'm gonna try 8's should be easy peasy by then...

I started with just the low e, but the other strings felt left out and made funny noises, so I ratcheted them all up a couple notches. The harmonics are all in the same place as standard tuning, why is that?

yeah i have three guitars i just leave on different tunings for different reasons; like one has four strings tuned to F# and the two highest ones stay at E&B, good for thick drones - i got the intonation adjusted though so the strings last longer; they were breaking more often than standard

if you know the notes on the fretboard it can make you think about how you play in different ways, which sometimes leads to cool shit - but i learned to just leave it on there instead of changing it often

Never experimented with that particular tuning, I am very fond of tuning all 6 strings a half step down and then just playing everything normally. Aaron Lewis typically has his guitar tuned that way and I like his sound. I have 2 acoustic guitars, one is a very cheap beginner guitar from the 'zon and the other is a little better quality full sized electroacoustic that has a built in 9v powered eq which is nice. I bought it new, but damaged with a significant discount. I just replaced the strings yesterday because I had it tuned down for a good while and went to return to standard tuning and lost my B string. I've decided I'm leaving it tuned standard just until I buy back up strings because I really hate not having my guitar. I learned recently that its become my favorite object and I'm quite fond of it.

I'm very new (i bought the blue guitar first last june I think) to guitar and music in general (all together I'd say about 1.5 years but I bought my DAW last december, which is when I consider making it a serious hobby/commitment) but my guitar is something I really do not like being without however I'll definitely look more into this tuning once I've got some backup strings, maybe even a new guitar which is a goal for this year.

11's tuned a whole step higher wtf?
Even the thought makes me cover my eyes, a string could snap and stab me anytime. Or the neck breaks idk.
