Hi guys. I am on Ableton and Sampler and Simpler can only import audio files. Which VST sampler can record live sound?

 

... just record into Ableton and then put it in the sampler?

 

Record to a clip, then drag to Sampler/Simpler/Impact. Alternatively record to Looper and do the same thing.

If you want to do this without keyboard and/or a mouse (perhaps live) assign record/loop/etc buttons to MIDI triggers.

Or if you want to do this without Ableton's tools, you can use Cwitec TW16wx. (free standard edition, which is not a toy, thanks @Olymoon for pointing this out!)

It's free! There's a "pro" version, with more FX, more voices, some more timestretching algorithms and so on. It doesn't really add nothing new, just more of the same (not that it's a bad thing), so unless you're a sampling pro who enjoys hand-scripting Kontakt and the like it's not really needed. But that takes it to ultra-powerful territory, instead of just plain ol' powerful. TW16WX professional.

I guess it'd be nice to have 4096 voice polyphony, but you know...

*edit:* I use it personally as a sample slicer and something that can import and edit Soundfonts. For those times when full Kontakt is excessive (which is most of the time).

Rolling Sampler is a plugin and a standalone program that records the audio reaching it in a loop as long as it is running. The recorded bits can be highlighted and dragged out anywhere.

Manual option: System Audio Bridge is a small plugin for Windows that brings system audio inside your DAW using WASAPI loopback.
