Did you see the videos posted on here to identify fake and real? If you haven't then worth a watch. One video even weighs the real one versus a fake.

I only joined this thread to brush up on my fake detecting skills. With current knowledge, nobody should ever fall victim to a known scam.

Not exactly. You are correct, but I looked into it some more, and found that many people buy fakes from "Amazon", but they are actually dealing with a 3rd party that makes it look like they *are* Amazon. But they are not. They are using a name which shouldn't be allowed, but is. So when you buy something from them, it is not covered under any Amazon buyer protections.

Look at those fake mics though. I saw one video of the guy testing it against a real one. Sure enough they sound different. The real one has that whole "youtube bass", and the fake does not. But if you do not have a real one to compare it with, some YT amateur could very easily not tell the difference. Those influencer people probably don't even care, because the expensive mic is just for appearances, anyway. Really not that far from a SM-57 or some $50 dollar mic.

I think they are made by a real Microphone company in China. Maybe each one costs $20 to make. They sell them for 10x that, using the Shure brand name. The actual manufacturing processes involved in making even a shitty copy mic are still "impressive". Just that black outer case could be 3d printed if it is plastic/polymer; but if they are selling them as high volume as we can suspect, I doubt they are 3d printed. They are probably injection molded. Either way, you are talking about a machine that costs a hundred thousand dollars. Or more. They are making them on a nearly industrial scale. lol

Most of the people checking these out, are interested in the electronics inside. But those kinds of components are extremely cheap to buy in sufficient qty in China; and they can be multi-purpose parts that have other legitimate uses. They don't really need to make a transformer for just this one fake, or whatever parts like wiring, etc. Otherwise those blue and red wires used, would be yellow and green like a real Shure.

These are so close in appearance with the real thing, it would not surprise me in any way; for those parts to have come from the same factory that makes them for Shure. They would just buy the cosmetic parts the customer can see outisde of the case. Then they fill it up with parts that cost $1 instead of $25. They make some amazing fakes and if you don't know what to look for, it's very easy to get burned. They can make counterfeit Rolex watches that make it past nearly anyone who looks at them. So a microphone is not a big accomplishment. But it does speak to the volume of them being produced by someone. A ton of stuff like this makes it into New York.

Sorry, I was referring to the official Shure Amazon store ... https://www.amazon.co.uk/stores/Shure/page/B5CD2FB1-B867-4CFE-99E9-4F9FB057EC39

If they are dealing in fakes, then we are all in trouble :)

If all the official brand stores on Amazon are fake, then Bezos needs to be shut down for piracy!

The "companies" selling the fakes. Not the company's official web stores. The counterfeiters make fake web stores. To go with their fake microphones. And they create them so they look like Amazon Fulfillment".

I think it's a good policy to avoid 3rd party sellers, and also use a web service to set up price notifications, in order to take advantage of Amazon's elastic pricing system.
