The GUI is great, it's beautiful. The EAR 825Q also a great Tube EQ, expensive and the stepped mastering grade version is so rare and could be around 20k USD these days. From what I heard the maintenance also seems ridiculous that it was designed to be used with some of the most expensive NOS selected matched tube set that could easily cost up to USD 2k per set. Would love to see a plugin version of it someday, but doubt that developer can get access to a unit and modeled it. Lurssen Mastering has one but it was a modified version and incorporated into their custom mastering console. The modification are meant to keep the signal pure or something, according to Gavin in one of the video. I think it was MWTM or maybe their yt channel, can't remember.

Analog Obsession OAQ both the old and new version aren't the emulation of EAR 825Q though, rather it's Charter OAK PEQ-1 Mastering EQ which is a solid state EQ. The harmonic generated, and overall feel of both plugins suggesting that they are solid state EQs. They sound great and I think they are some of the best EQ from AO. Sad that the skin designer got it wrong for such a beautifully designed skin. Got my hope up a bit just now.

I love it and use it on every track as it is extremely transparent, low on cpu and can be had at a fair price with the a minor minimalist kind of protection. Fircomp 2, I love you.

    Jon V, I thank thee.

I was able to hear and touch one of Tim De Paravicini's machines, the EAR822Q, which is based on a pultec, and we compared it with a pultec from Bettermaker, the SPE, the black version.
And the difference was obvious to our ears, the Bettermaker had a very spicy and sparkling highshelf, the lowshelf gave a roundness and a presence but not so much warmth.

This friend is also crazy passionate about Tim's equipment, he dreams of getting the 825q as well .
(me too that said but I have neither his time nor his budget for that I am satisfied with the AO or Erin version of AA but which is in no way comparable for me)

The 822 when gave it a foamy and airy feeling in the high frequencies making it bright soft at the same time I think that the harmonic generation of the tubes has a terrible impact on it. The lowshelf was massive, a big feeling of elephant kick without losing too much impact especially calibrating at 20 & 30hz the 100Hz seemed too heavy and sticky but offered a charm that the bettermaker clearly does not have. Afterwards there is a world of difference between the designers and designs of these two units despite the fact that they are both "Pultec".

Yes I know about the OAQ where its emulation comes from, but I'm talking here about the EAQ which dates from 2017 if my memory serves me correctly which is based on the 825 or the skin from elsewhere ^^

And in fact it hasn't been serviced since 2017, it has some glitches, notably the fact that it bypasses all by itself after a while if you don't touch it in the chain, it resets to 0 gain and selector parameters of frequencies I scared myself several times on some of my mixes because of him and finally I got into the habit of caressing him in the direction of the grain.

It's old and dusty but I love it

My apologies, I didnt know there's a EAQ by AO. I've been following AO only after he went full shareware, if 2017, that means it's back in the days when his plugins are not free, correct ? no wonder I never heard of it. Did he made them available or you still have to buy it these days ? Im interested now. Thanks for the info too. You know where to get it ?

You can create an account with fake email address and phone number and erase it as soon you've downloaded the file (no license / registering).
Also, you must know that this plug in is "Acustica powered" and is in fact a rebranded Acqua plug-in. It supports only 44.1 /96 k kHz sampling frequencies as stated in the installer file name.
Its action is very, very subtle...
If you're still interested, PM me.

Yes it was the time when every plug was not yet in Shareware, I know that it is no longer up to date and no longer available either on his patreon or on his website, I think he abandoned the project I tried to relaunch it on gearspace and haven't had a response yet.

I pm you to give info

klevegrand is a prime example of working design and functionality. beyond fame and too much advertising, klevgrand makes excellent plugins.

  15. I second this one. Use it all the time and the interface is lean and efficient. Perfect VST in many ways.

For whom wants to use this plugin, watch out! It is geared towards buss processing and does have an internal level reference. This means that its reaction is very different when feeding it a level close to 0dB FS vs when feeding it a -20 dB FS. Like completely different: same sound will get midrange scooped when the level is close to 0 FS and midrange boosted when the level is -20.

On topic - don't use it at all but it looks superb

Every iteration of my computer since wayyy back then has had this baby on a hard/SS drive until this last build. I wonder if it would still function. It crashed on me on Win 7.
