email him again, subject Link Request. He emailed me back right away a while ago. I'm not really sure how much different it is from a Crossover bottle with Audiogridder in the bottle. I would try that in the meantime, if it's something that can't wait. The email has instructions, link to video and his referrer link to buy Crossover if you need it.

Did you end up getting a response after the followup? I've been searching all over for a copy crossgridder, hit a brick wall since I also never got a response either.

I tried it with Crossover 23.7.1 but nothing works (half the plugins doesn't load) & other half has a blank gui. He recommends older crossover but I didn't bother anymore. It's not production ready workflow. I tried Slate Digital, Softube Weiss r2r & oeaksound stuff but nothing works.

You maybe did not install the Visual C redistributable files that are needed for the Windows applications to work correctly. There is also a list that has been compiled of things that don't work either way. The plugins with the "black GUI" problem can be possibly edited from Generic Editor in Audiogridder.

https://download.microsoft.com/download/0/6/4/064F84EA-D1DB-4EAA-9A5C-CC2F0FF6A638/vc_redist.x64.exe. I believe this is the Visual C file you need, but maybe confirm with the original email you got about Crossgridder installation.

I don't really ever expect "production ready workflow" from a virtualization of anything. It will always be a "hack job".

Hey OP I see you have an M1 mac... Are you using Sonoma ?
There is a sweet way for Sonoma + M series chip. Brainworx still wont load and some softube are very picky, but 99% of the other plugins load and GUI is fine.
I agree, it is a "hack job", but when it works it's really usefull.

EDIT: for Brainworx & others, parallels with AG is the only way I know to make it work good.

Many of those plugins older versions may work, as they are mostly 64bit anyway. They are just Intel Mac. That's something you would have to actually test on an Apple Silicon machine to figure out. I bet with effort you could get most of the old dylib era stuff working, if it was important enough to you, to screw around with it. (time and effort)

Sonoma + M series chip you can use Whisky

    https://github.com/Whisky-App/Whisky/releases

written with wine + crossover but takes advantage of the new graphical stuff that Sonoma introduced, so gamers use this.
But with audio plugins everything renders correctly (crossgridder is very problematic)

then there is this archive that helps a lot:

    https://pixeldrain.com/u/nPQ26fmd

ignore the whisky app as it is older that than the one on github

Install all VC's and replace a couple of DLL's and your good to go.
(now with version 2.2.3 of Whisky I think you can very easily install the vs6sp6 package release via winetricks. but have not tested but provided DLL's to overwrite in the bottle Windows/system32 & Windows/Syswow64 works great to install plugins)

EDIT: it's still a "hack job" so the GUI weirdness of AG in the toolbar + catching a plugin is the same as using crossgridder

Very nice for ARM users, thanks.

In such instances a Time Machine backup first is never a bad idea. By "hack" I mostly mean userland strange workarounds, or strange installation methods that you would never see in an R2R release, having to leave SIP disabled permanently, and anything you wouldn't want to screenshot or open in front of a client. Obvious differences from legit copy. :guru:

On my M1 Sonoma, I got Altiverb 7.05 XL working perfectly with the dylib stuff. Didn't really bother with other old stuff. I know there's Oxford & Softube collection but I guess I have too many plugins already. Will give Whisky a try

Well, Altiverb 7 would definitely be the most highly rated and expensive one. Oxford Bundle, Soundtoys, and Lexicon bundles are all 32bit and need to be resurrected in 32Lives. So you probably won't get them working. But there is McDSP all bundle, Softube bundle, DUY, Stillwell/ Schwa, Z-Plane or Zynaptiq, Eventide, 2015 r2r PA all bundle, some others.

I'm sure they become less interesting via Rosetta. But all together, probably take up less space than just Altiverb on your ssd. Some are well worth the extra bit of effort.

Still using Monterey and I don't feel like going any further for the near future so Whisky won't work.
