    Hello,

Just wondering what software synths do you mainly use now days? Over the last few years there has been so much progress in the VST field that it's hard to stay on top. My prediction is most will say Sylenth but for some reason I find its sound very metallic and rough and even with hundreds of banks they seem to repeat the flavor.
The one that actually caught my eye recently is Vember Audio Surge although there hasn't been much development lately. It comes with a huge array of quality presets and it allows you to go in depth to tweak the desired result. I find it very useful for sounds with long sustain (i.e. pads).
I am really looking forward to your opinions.

    TIA,

    Substorm

I caught a glimpse of Spire a few times but for some reason never tried it. It's that good, eh? Where do you find its strengths?

I've used Trillian in the past but for electronic basslines I thought there were better options. What kind of music do you compose?

Wow,this is a hard question to answer.I use a lot of different synths in almost any project or idea and a few are my go-to's for certain things.I like Kontakt 5 for orchestral stuff, strings, brass, choirs, pianos, and a synth here or there,it just seems to have the most real sounding instruments the downside with kontakt is load time on big patches & unless you've loaded up the first patch in a bank with other patches in it you cant just hit next and dig thru patches so it's not real fast to browse thru sounds.I like Sylenth for certain synth sounds, some times a pad, lead, etc. But a lot of the banks are very similar(and u gotta manually load em),I use it a lot but maybe only 1 or 2 instances in a project.I find myself using Hypersonic 2 alot, some of the sounds are mediocre to my tastes but it's easy to navigate thru multiple categories and you can quickly layer patches.I also like (ya'll are prolly gonna eat me alive on this one) Nexus cause it's easy to navigate thru categories and it has a few sounds I like.Interestingly enough I don't like FM8 or Massive's browser too much, though I use both sometimes, but I can just hit next patch to browse thru sounds once I've loaded the first patch in a bank so.I use others too for certain stuff,Real LPC for guitar,VB3 for organs,Mr ray sometimes for ep's(other than kontakt),Chipsounds & a few other free 8 bit ones for the obvious. Minimonsta for synth bass sometimes. And sometimes Tps brass for certain brass & Edirol orchestral,E-mulator X3,a couple Tone 2 and Arturia ones for other sounds & synths sometimes I even use some image line synths.Sorry for such a long response,It's a really hard question to answer because I use so many different synths for so many different sounds it just depends on what I'm lookin for and there's many I didn't even mention. If I had to pick one I guess it'd be Kontakt it just seems to have the best sounds

I bought Zebra2 & Dark Zebra a cpl of months ago, and it's been my go-to synth ever since. Sounds fantastic, excellent modulation options, lets you morph between waveforms, and covers most of my needs and then some. Less frequently I use Alchemy, and Live9's Operator & GranulatorII.

Used to be Sylenth. Now it's Spire. Lush-101 has been getting some love lately too. Omnisphere's synth is pretty nice too (and it's sampled goodness of course).

Like Levitate, I don't really have one 'go-to'. It's amix of stuff and i've been trying out stuff over the past few years.

Euterpe Guda, ReaSynth, FAW Circle, Sylenth, IL Sakura, QQ Glass Viper.

For acoustic stuff: 4Front Rhode, Pianoteq, Spicy guitar

    I use Massive a lot.

I used to use a lot of Sylenth1, till I got the Virus.

I got Spire, but I still don't use it much (the modulation matrix is weird to use).

It all depends how you use them ...

You can't get any worse synth sounds than these to work with!

Spectrasonics (Omnisphere, Trilian, RMX), first stop all the way.....outside of Cubase's built-ins. Though, I've recently gotten very much into HALion 5, it's incredible!

I'll buy it, as soon as my Trial runs out.....
