Hi all! I heard this little beast was hard to master, but I can't figure out why the harder settings send the output to either channel, left or right! Now I've read the manual... What am I missing? Thanks!

im confused... sorry. so i just pulled up the dynamite compressor and on limit and average with the range set to 60 the mono kick i'm compressing is still mono. are you saying it pulls to the left or right somehow when you're hitting it hard? i'm showing 30 gr and it's still even. not sure i'm understanding whats happening. i'm on windows 10 reaper btw.

ps obligatory Tim Petherick also does the TNT compressor for Nebula, its great.

Hi macros! Windows 10 Reaper as well. At Threshold 10, Release .5, Det source int, Mode limit, Det mode pk, Range 60, Output 0, I get this weird effect on my Addictive Drums 2 snares: below a certain velocity level, they are panned hard left. Above a certain velocity level, they get back to center. Also, if I back down on the output knob, I get this same effect. Weird, huh?

Edit: thank you for the Nebula tip! Unfortunately I'm on a cheap laptop and heard it could neve handle Nebula or other Acoustica Audio plugins. We do what we can!

it's dual mono behavior I guess ? mind you at hardest setting, you are compressing 60db! Dyna-mite compressor release setting doubled its release speed for GR that more than 20db. So instead of 0.05ms the release time is 0.0025ms which almost the speed of heartbeat of a normal teenage boy if his crush somehow call him out of nowhere. jk

taking its auto-gain function that automatically compensate the output volume doing 60db of gain reduction and releasing it 0.0025ms after, a slight peak (that mostly a human cant hear) crossed its threshold on one of the channel, will push the volume up 60db on the respective channel real quick (and bring it down after as fast as the release speed) for compensation while the other channel is doing its thing separately and as a normal human being we will detect it because of the change and difference of RMS for both channels before it start compressing for the next peak. This will make the stereo image goes crazy for a stereo track especially on Average mode where the compression and the peak aren't really aligned.

The crazy imbalanced nature of it made it loved by many for slamming every track drum room ever because it introduced some sort of amplitude modulation that will be perceived as "alive" if blended nicely in parallel. The cymbals/hihat hits on both of the side makes it go wild.
