Hello fellow musicians
This has been a while coming for many reasons, both personal and professional, which I won't bore you with, but I have, after much procrastinating, decided to put this out there, to let you all tear it apart .
This version 2 of KLU I am releasing as a ßeta due to the a whole new added section under scrutiny here !
So, what's new in version 2 of KLU ?
Well firstly, what isn't ! It's still free for your personal use. Just don't sell it or claim it is yours, thats all.
It should, like V1, run on Intel and on Mac Silicon and back to Mac OS 10.13 High Sierra and probably El Capitan 10.12, although untested. It will definitely NOT run on earlier systems due to certain Mac libraries not being in those systems.
So… what IS new ?
The interface has changed a bit, more in some places than others, although those of you familiar with KLU V1 should still feel right at home. The sections are now presented in tabs (three for the moment!) and the third tab is a completely new section having tools to help you sort your Kontakt libraries out (hopefully).
The whole front end of the software has been re-written and optimised for speed. Everything is done in the initial scan, which is slightly longer than the V1 initial scan, but all the anomaly searches are done in this, the only scan, with much more complete results.
The NICNT utilities now cater to some extent for Kontakt 7's new library browser wallpapers.
A few aesthetic preference have been added… you can keep windows centred, changed window sizes are stored, stuff like that…
The PDF documentation has been mostly updated. Please DO READ IT. I have tried to include everything, but I'm a one man team here, so please be lenient with me
As always, I always welcome feedback and comments, especially about the new "Library Sorting" section. If you should find any bugs or have suggestions for improvements, please let me know. I will do my best to sort out bugs rapidly. Improvements could take longer !

As with my other apps, it contains no viruses, or Trojan horses or any other known or as yet unknown nasties and it is (hopefully!) bug free to the best of my knowledge. There is nothing in it that could harm your computer in any way. It runs fine on High Sierra. However, it is randomly detecting AU Format Plugins; and counting them when subtotaled at the bottom. They show as "Error" for SNPID. I will add some exceptions and check it out some more.

 

That's very odd indeed. What kind of AU plug-ins are you keeping in your Service Center folder? If they're not there, KLU shouldn't be able to see them, or could it be when it's cross-checking in your library folder. More information please…

It picked up all the files in the Service Center folder as libraries. I created another folder inside /Service Center and dropped them all in there, in case I need them later. It's back to normal now.

thanks for the fast help. I just now wonder why the prior version didn't pull all these in, because they were all there yesterday.

I like how the Anomalies report shows what you have "issues" with that don't actually need to be fixed.

I just tried it. It works fine for me. Are you clicking on the link in post 1 here, then on the blue "Download" button on the Workupload page ?

Hi, firstly this is a great utility.
I just changed from intel to M2 which was very daunting.
One of my biggest concerns was if my Kontakt set up will work in the new machine and this worked great on all but 2 of my libraries.
I am not sure if its me or the library but I get the following -

The item I'm trying to access, does not exist, or is badly referenced.

Check that the Service Center, Main Preferences and Library NICNT files are not duplicated, or that you have old versions left from previous installs.

If it continues being troublesome, delete all traces of it from the Service Centre, Main and User preferences folders and reinstall.

The library I am trying to install didn't come with an NICNT file so I asked KLU to create it, it says its installed but I get the message above.

Any ideas?

The library is - The Phono Loop- Cassette Toy Piano
I am running Kontakt 7.7.0
MAC OS Ventura

 

I just downloaded this from the sister site, created my own NICNT file with KLU (V2) and corrected the wallpaper proportions on the way past. The wallpaper part was irrelevant, but just for the aesthetics . I clicked "Install this library" and it installed fine.
Here's the details I entered to create the NICNT.

Library Name : Cassette Toy Piano
Library creator company : The Phono Loop
SNPID No. : S943

I also create a quick secondary wallpaper but, as in many other libraries, it does not show up as an independent library in the secondary browser, but just another preset under "Kontakt". I'm still missing a piece of the puzzle here if anyone can help me with some info…
Try to create a new NICNT and do what the help suggests…

Thank you so much for taking the time to reply and assist.
It still does not seem to work this end.

This is what I am doing,

Place folder into where my Kontakt libs are stored (ext HD)
Having already deleted the PLIST and XML files, I open KLU and press NICNT Utils
Hit Select/Change Library and navigate to the folder and select the lib folder (see attached)
I then ask it to create the NICNT file (see attached)
I then click install this library in Kontakt and it tells me it was sucsessful but it then does not appear in the SNPID list?

Can you see anything obvious I am doing wrong?

The first most obvious thing that I can see is that we are not talking about the same version of KLU. This thread is for KLU V2 posted at the top of this thread. You seem to be using some version of version 1 ! If you are using the one that is being supplied by HCISO on their release of Kontakt 7 then DON'T! The one supplied there was an older version with bugs in it that weren't sorted out.
Download the version posted here and try again.

 

Huge apologies I missed that.
I have downloaded the correct version and I am still having issues.
I have deleted out the old files (XML, PLIST and NICNT) but I can't install it as its greyed out (see attached).
I am pointing KLU to the folder (see attached).
Am I missing something obvious?

 

I don't use Mac, but I appreciate your work for the community!
