Somebody MUST make bad music. Without bad music great music doesn't exist.

 

When we are young any music is new to us. When we get older we start to understand that music is everywhere, that it isn't so out-of-the-way as we thought before etc., etc., etc. Just habit. And abundant experience.

 

There is a true irony in that saying. Nobody actually ever reinvented the wheel.

I really enjoyed the video but I turned the sound off after 2 seconds.

In industrial productions in different sectors, there are different standards, without complying with those standards, no product is allowed to be produced and distributed. Why is there no such standard for art? The only standard in music production is sound quality and music genre, and there is no other standard for music production. The absence of such standards allows anyone to produce anything.

 

With all due respect, let me disagree with you. I strongly believe that if the musical works that are now being produced on a large scale and placed on various platforms had existed when we were children, we would never have fallen in love with music.

Love does not arise for no reason. Something, an extraordinary aspect of a thing or a person must exist for love to happen. No one falls in love with a featureless thing. Our childhood was full of wonderful things and all the works had their own distinct and wonderful personality. All the musical works spoke to people and fascinated us stunningly. Even if you listen to today's music a thousand times, not even an iota of love will develop in you.

 

As kids we listened to punk, metal, and went to raves. You could dance to it, you could bang your head to it lift your fists to it, and it spoke to us and it was fun.

Feel free to whine about the artistry as much as you want with your fascist-like standards for music. It ain't an industry, unless you're talking about industrial music.

There should be no standards at all, if we are talking about art, if we are talking about products, those do have standards.

What are you worried about, that your art is too random to be considered music? Think you will find audience for every type of sound these days, distribute all that to all platforms for as low as 10-20 bucks a year, great times to be an artist.

I do not come on here as much for life reasons, but I have come to the conclusion that if it is Foster after countless incarnations, that Foster and Herpes are one and the same. It goes away but you can never truly get rid of it.

there is a standard it is set by your free will to choose.

anyone and i mean anyone should be able to express themselves thru art.

if you choose to only listen to hi fi "perfectly produced" music go ahead.

some people like thrash and chaos with imperfections

some people love jazz and unpredictable chord choices while others like a 4 chord progression that repeat

some people like all these things depending on there mood.

but the most import thing is that we all have a voice and we all can choose whos voice we listen to or not.

do you really think taylor swift should get more musical attention then mozart ? some would say yes, some would say no.

in the end it doesnt matter, consume what you want, make what you want the "success" of that music doesnt determine its worth or even how "muscial" it is.

 

It's not awful music, it's lazy music. I know. I recognise it as something I do myself. Be self aware. When you make music and it is easy, you are falling into habitual patterns that will lead to hollowing out your soul, the very reason you started making music in the first place. Push yourself into discomfort, make yourself use sounds and rhythms that make you uneasy and be friends with them. Then they are yours. This is synthesis! Creating something new from other things.
