In this video, you can see 24 hours of the amazing beauty of natural landscapes, but there is not even a minute of music that can be enjoyed. How is such a thing possible?

It's background music pretty much, stuff most "hip" coffee shops play instead of nothing, nobody really listens to music, it's there to fill out the silence and reduce eavesdropping, without putting people to sleep, like some proper ambient would probably do.

I always admired people who can make music like this, being borderline boring and interesting, but still keep the atmosphere and interest somehow, without stealing your attention or annoying you that much. It's generically catchy, without actually being anything really catchy so you must listen carefully, it takes special genius to really pull that off. NPC music is interesting term I guess lol

That's the genius part for me, it took someone actually time and devotion to pull that off and end result is something that fills the void, keep you hooked and don't steal attention, it's perfect for shopping and hanging out with friends.

Whenever I hear term "AI music", my brain goes to this, this is the thing people will use AI for and this is what most chord/music theory plugins emulate really, sound of typical EDM sample pack from sister site, nothing really exceptional or that interesting, but if you can live with that, you can end up with something like this.

I have a friend that could put his time on something that just sounds meh and actually finish it up, I freak out when we try to make music together, I have at least dozen things to add to make it more interesting, most of the times I wouldn't even start anything, but his brain is wired like that, he can actually pull that off without thinking it sounds vanilla. For some reason rappers dig his beats, probably because they don't steal attention that much, don't go overly interesting so they can be bland with their delivery too, it's one of those things that sometimes leaves you crying in the corner drunk lol

Think main ingredients to be in this mindset is to start with loops from sample packs, stay at very basic music theory level, like something you picked up from video named "Hacks for music theory that works every time" from Instagram, try to use mouse for composing exclusively and AI music theory tools that spit out something that all of these tracks already used, that Melody Sauce thing is the ticket, combine it with Feel Your Sound stuff and score. Nexus for instruments, Vengeance samples for rest. Open a bottle of something nice, listen to this mix for few hours until you start vibing to it and you are ready to go.

I made myself similar challenge, started drinking really heavily and decided to use same chord progression one "pop artist" was using for most of her hit songs, why changing the winning combo, than I tried to get into psyche of low IQ trashy Instagram model who would do anything for line of coke and few bucks, that needed more alcohol than I imagined and I managed to make bridge hook and the chorus only... decided it's not worth going back to that mindset to work further and have something on my dropbox to cheer people up lol

You mean that these people can make good music, but don't make intentionally?

Do you have any less complicated formula?
Let's say I'm not confident about my ability to put out Deep House...
    What about Deep Studio Apartment?
Or even Shallow Tool Shed or something.
    Something a little easier.

You forgot to say: "the music I found awful". According to your tastes. For most people it can be wonderful. So wake up, the whole world doesn't revolve around you.

That video has 25k views and 1.1k likes in 3 days so quite a few people enjoyed it. How many views do your music videos have?

Probably make a good living from it.

Precisely, among them are the greatest composers, arrangers, producers, mixing and mastering engineers living on earth [/winking exaggeration] and they only produce crap so you have something to complain about, Foster. [IMG]

I kind of liked it. I tend to like individual songs as opposed to liking particular artist or groups, but for mellow beats I like Late Night Alumni lately. I just found their stuff recently... and I just looked and, yeah, I am usually about a decade late.
I think ti was 2003 when i found Ace of Base and thought "Who is this new group with the dance music?"
Hmm a shameless plug for a favorite of mine to energize while doing labor

I didnt watch the video but i am listening to the music as i read the thread and typing my reply...........I actually like the music. Its all a matter of personal taste I suppose. Might not be earth shattering and original but i enjoyed hearing it. And it takes a level of skill and ability to put together something that.....so respect there to whoever made it.

Absolutely, this music really works great and it's not something that just about anyone with DAW can pull out successfully, more I tried to do it, more respect I had towards people that are doing it.

Whenever I would hear something I didn't like that much or dislike too much, especially if I thought it's low effort music, I would have my go at making it and maybe even try to improve it to suit my taste, so in that process I would find new born respect towards people that are making it successfully and learn few new things on that journey.

That helped me to find my limits and test my prejudice, work on my ego and have open mind, sometimes hardest thing to do is something that one think is easiest thing to do, especially if one is going to put his work against successful work of others, it's eye opening experience.

I remember when I was a kid, all the songs had a meaning. When you were listening to a song, that song was in your head for a few days and you were humming to yourself. The songs that became big parts of our memories. Not only us as children, but also the adults felt this way. We never got tired of listening to them. Those songs were in all gatherings and everyone listened. They were so beautiful that no one could fault them. Musical instruments were not available to everyone, nor were any of the technological advances of today, but everyone enjoyed art.

Now there are thousands of music software installed on everyone's laptop. Everyone has access to each other and minds, and a large network of awareness has been created. Why is it that even though all knowledge is available to everyone and everyone can access everything, good songs are rare? Why are we always looking for excuses for the low quality of music? Why do we try to justify everything and find a suitable place to listen to every music?

    your referring to your taste.

music like this isnt low quality, you just dont like it, its that simple.

thats why we have so many diffrent types of music and art in general. everyone has diffent taste. next
