Rather than pile on either end of the debate over whether it is a good song or not, here is some additional info about how things evolved.
    Now and Then (Beatles song)

    Thanks for the heads up!

Why not just have AI generate "Beatles" songs, and claim that they're "newly-discovered" tracks with a little embellishment by George Martin's grandson, or something?

Found this in June. I prefer this before the official version. It's a 12 year old cover.

I can't say that I liked it. In my opinion the strings that Giles Martin piled on are way over the top, garish, and lacked the class and magic that his dad was able to craft on anything of the Beatles that he touched. Nothing about it besides the song's chord structure itself has amy merit in my mind, the compression just rubbed me the wrong way and it seemed as if there were too many cooks stirring the pot in the control room. They might have consulted Geoff Emerick's spirit and come up with a more tasteful production value.

I can't get past the warbling old man vocals behind everything. Paul, bless him, the age is finally showing, fine, but Ringo never had any business singing ever and it's like they knew it was bad so they mixed them so low that it actually makes it worse. Geeze, you actually got John sounding pretty good, shut up and let him sing, and harmonize like a freakin Beatles song.

Found that THIS ONE tops the official one by far. Closer to what I think John would have ended up doing.

    Awesomely great track!!

typical modern train wreck of a mastering job... would have been nice to be able to hear some subtlety and air in the mix since it is that kind of a track, but no...

Is a GREAT song, but I just donĀ“t like the way it sounds. I very much prefer the crappy tape demo with just the voice and the piano

When I saw that Image (I think it was on youtube comparison), I was in shock. The new track sounds awful, IMO

This way it loses its magic... I prefer the one arranged by the Beatles and G. Martin.
About the sound: the final version will be released tomorrow in the new Anthology Remixed & Expanded: The Beatles 1967-1970 (2023 Edition). Let's see how it sounds...
